Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Canada in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a Sr. Planner/Scheduler to support project managers and engineering teams across diverse projects.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of planning experience on large-scale engineering and construction projects, strong skills with Primavera P6, MS Project and TILOS, and fluency in English (French a plus).

Qualifications

  • Post‑secondary engineering degree (PEO registration preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of planning experience on large engineering/construction projects.
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques (PMI-SP or AACE PSP preferred).
  • Advanced skills with Primavera P6, MS Project and TILOS.
  • Strong English communication; French is an asset.

Job Description Overview AtkinsRéalis is hiring a Sr. Planner/Scheduler to join our team in Toronto, Ontario as we are expanding our Project Services operations in Ontario and across Canada. This role under the project services group involves supporting our project managers and engineering teams to deliver design and support projects to our clients, with various and diverse types of projects. The Sr. Planner/Scheduler will establish project schedules, coordinate with cost estimators and controllers to establish project budgets, maintain schedule updates, and manage schedule changes in order to ensure delivery of projects as targeted. As a Senior Planning and Scheduling expert, we would also like to leverage your experience in optimizing plans, analyzing schedule delays, and proposing recovery and mitigation plans. This position reports to the Planning and Scheduling Manager, AtkinsRéalis Canada and will be based in Toronto, Ontario, however, can support other projects across the country and overseas if needed.

Your role

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Identify the scope of work, establish the schedule Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to cover the project scope, and interfaces with other scopes and to meet AtkinsRéalis’s standard procedures.
  • Confer with Project Managers and other teams to review scope, identify interfaces, KPIs, set project targets and complete execution plans.
  • Develop project schedules using known industry software to meet project requirements (Primavera P6, MS Project and/or TILOS).
  • Liaise with project controls and cost control teams to identify project cost components, arrange, load and assess schedule resources to different schedule levels and adjust/level resources to meet project plans.
  • Identify and optimize schedule critical path, project constraints, and other schedule assumptions, include in the Basis of Schedule reports and participate in Schedule Risk Analysis workshops to determine the contingencies in the project schedule.
  • Establish Baseline Schedules and take the lead in managing project time by maintaining schedule updates and records, monitoring and flagging changes in sequence and reporting schedule variances with impact on completion dates and other schedule reports (including Charts, S-curves and Resource Histograms).
  • Review schedule performance and recommend corrective and/or preventive actions to recover delays and improve the schedule performance.
  • Also, represent planning and scheduling function in Client meetings and planning workshops and provide technical support as pertains to planning and scheduling issues.
About you
  • Post‑secondary education or university engineering degree (PEO registration preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years related experience in planning of engineering and construction projects of large, complex, multi‑disciplinary scope (industrial, infrastructure, institutional and transportation).
  • Sufficient knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques (PMI‑SP or AACE PSP certification preferred).
  • Advanced skills with Primavera P6, MS Project and TILOS (preferred).
  • Strong English communication and presentation skills, proficiency in French is an asset.

Expected compensation

Expected compensation for this role is between $100,200 - $137,700 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
