Job summary

BC Hydro seeks an experienced communications professional to lead corporate communications, craft compelling messaging, and manage media relations for key initiatives.

You will provide strategic counsel to senior leaders, coordinate media announcements, and ensure consistent messaging across departments while supporting a flexible work model and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• At least five years of related experience in corporate communications, public relations or journalism.
• Exceptional writing skills and ability to breakdown complex information into engaging content.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
• Experience advising senior leaders on media strategy and issues management.
• Comfortable dealing with sensitive material.
• Strong organizational and research skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing earned media strategies and products, and coordinating and executing a variety of media announcements and events.
• Identify, assess, and manage emerging issues and reputational risks, providing strategic communications advice.
• Creating, managing, editing and implementing communications strategies and products for corporate initiatives and issues.
• Providing support for enquiries from media, including acting as a spokesperson (ability to speak publicly in a language besides English is an asset).
• Speech writing and experience writing for senior leaders.
• Acting as the lead and central point of contact for specific business areas and issues files.
• Liaising with other groups within the organization to ensure consistent messaging and communications strategy.
• Monitoring current events and industry news, anticipating potential impacts.

What you’ll do
