Job description

Our client located in Delta, BC is looking for the Senior Manager of Logistics and Export Compliance. This role has overall material management responsibility for maintenance operations and involves coordinating and overseeing the Logistics Department to ensure optimal interface between all logistical functions and other departments. Typical duties include monitoring the quality, quantity, cost, and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods. Additionally, the Senior Manager manages employees within the Logistics & Stores department and provides expertise to support department and company goals, including recommending and implementing process improvements.

The Senior Manager of Logistics and Export Compliance is responsible for export regulations and compliance processes related to military contracts, including controlled goods, export license requirements during operations and bidding phases, and adherence to Canadian, U.S., and EU export laws and regulations such as sanctions, tariff classifications, customs, ITAR, CCL, and EAR controlled goods.

Your Tasks:

General duties:
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the Logistics Centre to achieve departmental goals.
  • Align logistics activities with business strategies to improve overall performance.
  • Maintain departmental budget.
  • Set, monitor, and report KPIs to the CEO, ensuring alignment with corporate and division goals.
  • Ensure audit compliance with aviation standards and other relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with other managers to streamline logistics efforts across departments.
  • Coordinate training for department employees to ensure proficiency and compliance with Canadian Ministry of Transport Airworthiness Standards.
Operational duties:
  • Supervise and direct employees, particularly unionized staff, to meet goals and customer expectations.
  • Ensure resources are available for personnel to perform their tasks effectively.
  • Support the Materials Procurement Cycle to meet build schedules.
  • Coordinate Receiving, Shipping, and Marshalling activities to support production and customer requirements.
  • Manage resources to support process team performance.
  • Respond proactively to turn time risks by maintaining full transparency of all customer engines and assemblies.
Strategic duties:
  • Lead process improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Foster team building through clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage work stoppages to minimize impact on production.
Our Requirements:
  • University degree in Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in Logistics Management, preferably in an operational environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work under stress in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-oriented with strategic thinking and change agility.
  • Experience in aviation and managing unionized employees is highly preferred.
