A Day in the Life
Are you a creative, forward-thinking professional looking to make a real impact in Canadian healthcare? Medtronic Canada is seeking a Sr Manager, Health Care Service/Solution Consulting to lead the design and deployment of consulting services, digital health solutions, and data-driven strategies that accelerate access, build capacity and find efficiencies to transform patient care. In this role, you’ll play a leadership role in collaborating with industry leaders, challenge conventional approaches, and deliver innovative solutions that address some of Canada’s most pressing healthcare challenges.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide Healthcare Service/Solution Consultancy, oversees consulting projects that involve strategy development, organizational restructuring and management of the business to maximize efficiencies.

  • Works with senior management of companies to determine long-term goals by analyzing the client's business and making recommendations for changes and improvements.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

• The Senior Manager leads a team of Consultants , optimize s operations, improves patient access and operational capacity and efficiency, and delivers sustained performance outcomes.

• In collaboration with the team, the Senior Manager will partner with clients to help them co-design, implement and sustain strategic initiatives through:

o Clinical operational service delivery reviews and redesign

o Health services planning and workforce optimization

o Clinical Process Redesign across the care continuum

o Data analytics and targeted optimization / modelling for health system planning and operations improvement, utilizing Lean and Six Sigma approaches, and other transformational activities to drive quality improvement, financial savings and operational excellence

• Healthcare consulting projects involving strategy development and organizational restructuring and management of the business to maximize efficiencies and outcomes.

• Works with senior leaders to determine long-term goals by analyzing the client's business and making recommendations for changes and improvements.

• Utilize change management techniques to engage stakeholders and attain buy-in of the program.

• Train, coach and mentor team members to promote knowledge transfer and shared learning to drive expertise in operational optimization and excellence.

• Generate clear proof points of the value for the program.

• Responsible for reporting complaints and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR)

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONAL CAREER STREAM: Management and supervisory professionals with one or more employees who are focused on tactical, operational and some strategic activities within a specified area. Levels within the management career stream typically have six or more direct reports. The majority of time is spent overseeing their area of responsibility, managing performance, developing talent, engagement and inclusion, communicating business and operational developments, planning, prioritizing and / or directing the responsibilities of direct reports. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and / or indirect reports. A key responsibility of roles in this career stream is managing people. which includes: accountability for mentoring, developing and coaching staff on meeting/exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives, providing leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals.

Autonomy: Manages large team which would typically consist of both experienced professionals and managers.
Turns the department strategy into a commercial reality by developing, communicating and implementing business plans to achieve business results .

Decisions impact projects or operations, affect the deadlines, resources, and funds, and the achievement of organizational objectives .
Typically has budget or P&L accountability for a department, function or geography.

Innovation and Complexity: Develops new objectives , new operating policies, products, processes and standards in support of the job function strategy.
Problems and issues faced are complex, difficult and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem.

Communication and Influence: Communicates with internal and external customers and vendors concerning ongoing operations, programs or processes.
Influences across functions and businesses while balancing divergent objectives to gain cooperation of other parties .
May interact on issues that have externally divergent objectives .

Leadership and Talent Management: Manages at least one (department, function, geography typically comprised of other People or Program managers and / or supervisors and experienced professionals.
Recommends strategies, goals and plans for a group.
Authorizes hiring, firing, promotion and reward within own area.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires broad management knowledge to lead project teams in one department.


Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.

Requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION

• Relevant degree in nursing, healthcare, medicine, engineering, medicine, healthcare, life sciences, or businessfield

• Strong knowledge of the Canadian Healthcare system, including health systemdesign, and service delivery model, trends and quality improvement in health

• Project Management Certification

JOB EXPERIENCE
• Demonstrable experience in consulting
• Demonstrated ability to operate from idea generation, strategy development through
detailed analysis, execution and results delivery •
• Successful utilization of change management techniques
• Experience dealing with hospitals’ clinical leaders, staff, and C-suite/Sr.
Management/stakeholders

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
• Strong and demonstrable project management skills: planning & coordinating,communicating & influencing, relationship building, achieving milestones, resolvingissues, and managing risks.
• Ability to integrate a team and coach it to continuously improve their performance.
• Actively look for best practices, new techniques and tools and build plans and guideactions for implementation in its daily job.
• Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of analytics platforms
