Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior I&C Engineer with a P.Eng in Ontario and 10+ years in conceptual to detailed design of CANDU I&C systems. The role involves updating design documents, coordinating with stakeholders, and contributing to drawings and analyses.

You will work within our nuclear engineering group, collaborating on design baselines, change controls, and QA processes in a hybrid Canada-wide environment. A strong background in vendor relations and AS7/AS9 systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (P.Eng in good standing).
• BS Honours in I&C/Electrical/Automation engineering.
• 10+ years' design experience for CANDU instrumentation and control systems.
• Experience with I&C equipment vendors is a plus.
• Familiar with N-PROC-MP-0090 and AS7/AS9 asset management systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and update I&C engineering design documents and related analyses.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to track schedule and resolve technical issues.
• Prepare design walkdown reports and related OPEX analyses.
• Provide input for I&C drawings: loop diagrams, wiring, BOMs, etc.
• Support the drawing office with I&C drawings and documentation.

Overview

Your role

• Perform instruments technical specification, EQR, sizing, and selection of various types of I&C components and produce component-related documentation, including assessment documents.

• To track the schedule and progress deadlines, resolve complicate technical issues, provide inputs and guide the team, collaborate with the external and internal stakeholders

• Update and/or prepare I&C engineering design documents, including design requirements, design description, elementary diagrams, functional specifications, etc., together with the supporting analysis/assessment documents and other design basis documents.

• Prepare, Review and approve preliminary design walkdown report, OPEX report etc.

• Provide input to the drawing office for the preparation of various I&C related engineering drawings such as general arrangement drawings, instrument loop diagrams, wiring and connection diagrams, bills of materials, etc.

About you

• Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, member in good standing.

• BS Honors degree in a relevant field of I&C/Electrical/Automation engineering.

• Minimum 10 Years’ experience in conceptual, preliminary and/or detailed design of CANDU instrumentation and control systems and modifications. Familiarity with Engineering Change Control/Modification process is an asset.

• Experience in working with Instrumentation and Controls equipment vendors will be an asset.

• Currently working/Worked for preliminary engineering, detail design and modification project activities as per standard N-PROC-MP-0090.

• Currently working/Worked on AS7 and/or AS9 system, (or an equivalent asset management system).

• Familiarity with industrial/nuclear QA programs and procedures along with pertinent CSA, IEEE, or related I&C engineering codes and standards would be an asset.

• Having Nuclear site security clearance is an asset.
