Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking a seasoned Instrumentation & Controls Engineer with deep CANDU experience to lead design and assessment of I&C systems. You will prepare design requirements, generate I&C drawings, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to ensure compliance with CSA, IEEE codes and QA programs, while maintaining project schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level engineering degree in I&C or Electrical/Automation.
  • Professional Engineer designation in Ontario is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years in conceptual to detailed design of CANDU I&C systems.

Responsibilities

  • Specify I&C components, perform EQR, sizing and selection.
  • Prepare design documents: requirements, descriptions, diagrams and specs.
  • Prepare/approve preliminary design walkdown and OPEX reports.
  • Coordinate with drafting for instrument loop diagrams and BOMs.

Job Description Overview

Your role

Perform instruments technical specification, EQR, sizing, and selection of various types of I&C components and produce component-related documentation, including assessment documents. To track the schedule and progress deadlines, resolve complicate technical issues, provide inputs and guide the team, collaborate with the external and internal stakeholders Update and/or prepare I&C engineering design documents, including design requirements, design description, elementary diagrams, functional specifications, etc., together with the supporting analysis/assessment documents and other design basis documents. Prepare, Review and approve preliminary design walkdown report, OPEX report etc. Provide input to the drawing office for the preparation of various I&C related engineering drawings such as general arrangement drawings, instrument loop diagrams, wiring and connection diagrams, bills of materials, etc.

About you

Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, member in good standing. BS Honors degree in a relevant field of I&C/Electrical/Automation engineering. Minimum 10 Years’ experience in conceptual, preliminary and/or detailed design of CANDU instrumentation and control systems and modifications. Familiarity with Engineering Change Control/Modification process is an asset. Experience in working with Instrumentation and Controls equipment vendors will be an asset. Currently working/Worked for preliminary engineering, detail design and modification project activities as per standard N-PROC-MP-0090. Currently working/Worked on AS7 and/or AS9 system, (or an equivalent asset management system). Familiarity with industrial/nuclear QA programs and procedures along with pertinent CSA, IEEE, or related I&C engineering codes and standards would be an asset. Having Nuclear site security clearance is an asset.
