Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Provides financial and business advice to assigned clients by reviewing and analyzing departmental and corporate historical and statistical cost and revenue information; assesses operational performance and assists clients in preparing their assigned operating and capital budgets. Develops various financial reports to support business units in achieving their enterprise objectives.

Key Accountabilities
  • Provides consolidated financial data and related resources for the development and reporting of annual operating budget, capital program, 10-Year Investment Plan, and quarterly forecasts; identifies opportunities to enhance financial outlooks and other analysis tasks.
  • Advises department/project managers on financial issues impacting budgets and capital requirements; develops detailed budget instructions and provides guidance on operating and capital matters.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve financial outlooks, forecasts resources for complex projects, and prepares reports and dashboards for decision-making.
  • Works closely with business units/project managers to ensure accuracy and compliance of financial data, providing ongoing support and addressing related matters.
  • Analyzes financial impacts of efficiency opportunities; creates financial models, reviews variances, and develops business cases for improvements.
  • Prepares executive briefing materials; assists in drafting budgets, forecasts, and reports for the Board; participates in special projects with financial analysis services.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

University degree in Business Administration or Commerce plus a Professional Accountant designation (CA, CPA, CMA), with 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, capital projects, and financial planning in a large organization.

Other Requirements

  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and other modeling tools (Longview, etc.)
  • Strong business acumen and experience with business case development and presentation skills
  • Understanding of project management practices
  • Knowledge of PSAB accounting standards and governance legislation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities
Additional Information

Recruitment involves demonstrating minimum qualifications; a standard interview process will be used. Work schedule: 37.5 hours/week, hybrid work model. Salary: $82,400 - $123,600 annually, with benefits including health, dental, transit pass, pension, and development programs.
