Advises, plans, develops, and designs District engineering/operational plans to optimize efficiencies in business objectives. Leverages operational knowledge of various facilities, their specific engineering processes, and deep working knowledge of operational systems. Collaborates with Managers to monitor adherence to plans, determine root cause of deficiencies, develop and assist management in implementation of action and support compliance and training efforts that they identify in the District.
Essential Functions
- Acts as a change agent throughout the District to influence and steer management decisions, ensuring alignment and optimization of engineering and operational plans.
- Identifies facility inefficiencies through root cause analysis by conducting facility visits and leveraging operational knowledge to implement improvements.
- Advises and facilitates team knowledge on dock operational systems (such as Vision, Sortation Systems - ISS & ISSC) and implements corrective actions.
- Creates Network Alignment Plans.
- Determines Capacity Planning to ensure full utilization of facilities.
- Prepares Volume Projections for short-term, future, and long-range planning.
- Oversees District changes such as spin-offs, expansions, and relocations.
- Forecasts labor and project staffing needs for current and future requirements.
- Evaluates Hub/Linehaul cut times to meet operational requirements.
- Develops Labor Standards to optimize labor hours.
- Produces monthly operational plans focusing on resource requirements, especially during Peak periods.
- Sets goals and budgets related to productivity, service, and costs to convert inefficiencies into savings.
- Provides material handling project recommendations, including financial analysis, to justify facility expansions.
- Constructs contingency plans for potential abnormal events.
- Serves as a subject-matter expert on operational, system, and technology processes and upgrades.
- Identifies gaps in adherence to SQI metrics related to scanning, pickup, delivery, loss, and damage.
- Trains management on operational processes and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math required, OR
- An equivalent of four (4) additional years' experience in relevant fields plus minimum required experience with a high school diploma/GED or unrelated Bachelor's degree. Relevant experience includes: the transportation industry in operations management or industrial engineering in any field.
Minimum Experience
- 7+ years of industrial or relevant engineering experience, OR
- 2 years of Senior Manager experience, OR
- Former District Operations Engineering Specialist.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
- Working knowledge of Business Objects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Presentation skills for training and informational sessions.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.

- Leadership skills to inspire and motivate teams.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.
- Knowledge of Material Handling, CAD, and Business Object preferred.
- Ability to perform cost justification analysis.
