Job summary

Altis Technology is seeking a senior embedded build engineer to join a collaborative R&D team. You will maintain build environments, automate release workflows, and integrate software from multiple partners while ensuring traceability across CI pipelines.

The role emphasizes solving complex integration challenges, improving automation, and delivering high-quality, reliable embedded systems for advanced consumer electronics. Remote work within Ontario is supported.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in embedded software development, build engineering, release management, or system integration.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Yocto, BitBake, embedded Linux development, and troubleshooting.
• Advanced experience with C/C++, Git workflows, and CI platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Proficiency with Python, Bash, Docker, and build automation for embedded environments.
• Experience debugging distributed embedded systems involving multiple processors, IPC, system logs, and runtime analysis.
• Knowledge of FreeRTOS/Zephyr, hardware-in-the-loop testing, networking, audio technologies, or third-party embedded SDKs is assets.
• Experience building AI-assisted engineering workflows or repository-scale automation is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance embedded build environments, CI pipelines, toolchains, containers, and release infrastructure.
• Integrate firmware and software from internal teams and external partners while managing version compatibility and Git workflows.
• Investigate build failures and system-level issues spanning embedded Linux, firmware, middleware, networking, and IPC.
• Develop and automate technical validation processes to improve release quality before QA testing.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to diagnose root causes, resolve integration challenges, and improve release traceability.
• Help introduce intelligent engineering automation that streamlines debugging, build analysis, and development workflows.

• Experience debugging distributed embedded systems involving multiple processors, IPC, system logs, and runtime analysis.
• Knowledge of FreeRTOS, Zephyr, hardware-in-the-loop testing, networking, audio technologies, or third-party embedded SDKs is considered an asset.
• Experience building AI-assisted engineering workflows, coding agent integrations, or repository-scale automation is an asset.
