Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Group seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to review and approve technical documents, and to provide guidance to designers and drafters on nuclear power systems. You will prepare requisitions for equipment, support procurement, and contribute to preliminary design walkdowns.

The role requires a PE license, 10+ years in nuclear electrical engineering, and familiarity with OPG processes and CANDU systems. A hybrid work model is offered in Canada.

Qualifications

• Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario (PEO).
• 10+ years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design in the nuclear industry.
• Good knowledge of CANDU electrical power systems and codes such as OESC and CSA 22.1.
• Experience modeling electrical power systems and ETAP or similar software.
• Experience with MV and LV distribution, SLDs, diagrams, cable sizing and load lists.
• Having or eligible for OPG site security clearance.
• Experience with OPG N-PROC-MP-0090 activities.
• Familiarity with OPG Engineering Change Control/Modification process.
• Experience with AS7/AS9 asset management system is a plus.

Overview

Your role

• Review and approve technical documents, such as: engineering drawings (including GAs, DDs, EDs), change paper markups, calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, component specification sheets, commissioning specifications, etc.
• Prepare, Review and/or approve requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials to support procurement.
• Interface and provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters.
• Prepare, Review and/or approve preliminary design walkdown report, OPEX report etc.

About you

• Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
• 10+ years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design in the nuclear industry.
• Good knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems and applicable codes and standards, such as Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) and CSA 22.1.
• Experience in modeling electrical power systems and use of analysis functions in ETAP, or other similar software program is an asset.
• Experience with medium voltage and low voltage power distribution systems, including preparation of Single Line diagrams, Elementary Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams, and schedules, and calculation of power demand/electrical load lists , transformer sizing, cable sizing, circuit breaker sizing calculations.
• Having OPG site security clearance and/or eligible to obtain site security clearance.
• Currently working/Worked in OPG for conceptual, preliminary engineering, detail design and modification project activities as per OPG N-PROC-MP-0090.
• Familiarity with OPG Engineering Change Control/Modification process will be an asset.
• Worked on OPG AS7 and/or AS9 system (or an equivalent asset management system) will be an asset.
