A leading banking institution is seeking a seasoned professional for a key leadership role in application development focused on next-generation Data Management & Services. The role requires a strategic thinker, adept in building efficient solutions while collaborating across diverse teams to enhance client service and operational success.
A key leadership role in application development within Wealth Management Technology, Data Services Canada. The role will be responsible for providing expertise and oversight in building and maintaining a highly efficient next-generation Data Management & Services solutions portfolio.
What will you do?
You will collaborate with multiple project and program stakeholders, including Business Units, Solution Architects, Business Systems Analysts, Development teams, Quality Assurance, IT infrastructure teams, and third-party vendors.
Serve as a conduit to front-facing business and other stakeholders to understand their data needs across all capabilities and initiatives for planning and prioritization.
Provide thought leadership and be responsible for delivering highly efficient Data and Services solutions through multiple projects.
Offer Technical Direction, anticipate and resolve issues, and implement solutions for integrating DMI projects into Wealth Management's and RBC's infrastructure environment.
Coordinate the end-to-end data Intake Process, including proposals, funding approvals, and delivery.
Support functions across various groups, including program/project managers, architects, development, and production support teams.
Report regularly on the Data portfolio, including status (budget, progress), alignment with overall strategy, and capability reporting.
Resolve complex issues and conflicts, including architectural direction versus project constraints; escalate to executive level when required.
Provide leadership and oversight to the technical team.
The ideal candidate will have a sharp business mind, understand user needs, and align them with the products being created. You should be motivated by the desire to optimize productivity and nurture program success from inception to completion.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have :
7+ years of recent hands-on experience delivering data solutions utilizing IBM DataStage (11.X), enterprise-grade RDBMS (SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle), NoSQL databases, and Warehouse Solutions like Snowflake.
3+ years of recent hands-on experience delivering Java-based solutions utilizing API-based solutions on OpenShift/Azure, and streaming solutions using Kafka.
Expertise in advanced ETL processing concepts and DataStage integration with APIs and databases.
Proven ability to build relationships within a cross-functional matrix organization, with a track record of establishing strong working relationships with leaders, team members, and vendors.
Strong skills in planning, estimating, budget management, reporting, team planning, and vendor engagement management.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced Agile environment, prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines, while incorporating development management best practices like CI tools (Jenkins, UCD), configuration management platforms (Ansible, Puppet), and work management tools like Jira.
Proven leadership experience managing mid-sized technical teams for over 5 years, including vendors, with strong communication and presentation skills.
Nice to have :
Experience with monitoring and dashboard solutions leveraging ELK.
Experience in query profiling, optimization, performance tuning on in-memory and relational databases, and data modeling including logical and physical database design.
Experience with distributed in-memory databases like MemSQL and MariaDB.
Strong understanding of Data warehousing concepts, including dimensional Star Schema and Snowflake Schema methodologies.
Knowledge of database architecture, distributed data storage, and management principles, with experience with related technologies.
Familiarity with Cloud Technologies such as OpenShift and Azure.
