Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Data Analyst based in Canada to transform complex scientific and operational data into actionable business intelligence. You will partner with business, product, and engineering teams to translate needs into analytics products, lead workshops, and drive data-driven decision making in a collaborative, data-centric environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/CS/IS or related field; Master’s is a plus.
  • 5+ years of SQL, data mining, profiling, validation, and testing experience.
  • 5+ years in Data Analytics/Data & Analytics role, senior/lead capacity preferred.
  • 5+ years leading UAT cycles with business users and stakeholders.
  • Experience with BI tools: Power BI, Tableau, Looker, MicroStrategy.
  • Experience in Agile environments and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate requirements into data products.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into well-written user stories.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Data Analyst based in Canada.


As a Sr. Data Analyst, you’ll play a key role in transforming complex scientific and operational data into actionable business intelligence. You’ll work within an enterprise data and analytics environment where curiosity, collaboration, and analytical excellence are highly valued. The role focuses on uncovering trends, developing KPI insights, and supporting strategic decision-making through high-quality data solutions. You’ll partner with business, product, and engineering stakeholders to translate operational needs into effective analytics and data products. You’ll also lead requirements workshops, user acceptance testing, data validation, and deep-dive analyses that address high-value business challenges. Accountabilities

  • Analyze complex scientific and operational datasets to uncover meaningful insights, identify trends, and support strategic business initiatives and evidence-based decision-making.

  • Translate business processes and operational rules into clear data requirements, ensuring that analytical solutions accurately reflect real-world workflows and business needs.

  • Develop insight-driven analytical solutions that improve visibility into critical KPIs, performance metrics, and business outcomes.

  • Conduct detailed and ad-hoc analyses to investigate complex problems, identify root causes, and provide clear, actionable recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Engage with business stakeholders at different levels to understand current and future requirements, identify opportunities, and shape effective data and analytics solutions.

  • Lead requirements workshops and User Acceptance Testing cycles for new data products and analytics solutions, while supporting business users through testing and training activities.

  • Analyze business processes and create business flow diagrams and data flow diagrams to support solution design, process optimization, and improved data delivery.

  • Perform data profiling, data mining, validation, and testing activities to ensure that datasets are accurate, reliable, and fit for business use.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business teams to align requirements, coordinate delivery, and ensure successful implementation of analytics solutions.

  • Build strong and trusted relationships with stakeholders while presenting analytical findings in a clear, accessible, and user-friendly manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required, while a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline is considered an asset.

  • At least 5 years of experience writing complex SQL queries and performing data mining, data profiling, data validation, and data testing activities is required.

  • At least 5 years of experience working as a Business Systems Analyst or Data Analyst within a Data & Analytics discipline, ideally in a senior or lead capacity.

  • At least 5 years of experience organizing and leading User Acceptance Testing cycles and working directly with business users and stakeholders through testing and training.

  • Hands-on experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or MicroStrategy is required.

  • Experience working within Agile software development environments and collaborating effectively across technical and business teams is important.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities are required, with the ability to approach complex challenges creatively and identify the most relevant areas for deeper investigation.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex datasets, identify meaningful patterns, and translate findings into practical business solutions are essential.

  • The ability to translate business requirements into well-written user stories and effectively bridge communication between business stakeholders and technology teams is important.

  • A strong business mindset, combined with the ability to identify opportunities for improved data management, analytics, and delivery, is required.

  • You should be able to understand the broader business context while also identifying specific areas where detailed analysis can support sound decisions and effective solutions.

  • A self-driven and collaborative working style is essential, with the ability to operate independently while contributing effectively within cross-functional teams.

  • Experience within the life sciences or biotechnology industry is considered an asset.

  • Candidates must be based in Canada.
