Role Overview

The Rogers Information and Cyber Security Unit seeks a highly motivated Senior Cyber Security Specialist to join our Cyber Protection Center. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Cyber Forensics at the Rogers Park Brampton campus, this role involves maintaining and advancing our cyber security program, including strategy review and incident response procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Responding to and managing cyber security issues, including participating in on-call rotations.
  • Triaging and assessing security events to determine risk.
  • Leading security projects, meetings, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Performing gap assessments, developing automation scripts, and tuning security systems.
  • Contributing to security initiatives and maintaining professional conduct in challenging environments.
  • Utilizing “kill chain” methodologies for risk assessment and incident investigation.
  • Reviewing alerts and system alarms using SIEM and other tools, providing incident analysis and reports.
  • Responding to network attacks affecting infrastructure and cloud environments.
  • Producing incident reports and risk metrics based on the MITRE ATT&CK model.
  • Participating in post-incident reviews and threat intelligence analysis.
  • Conducting digital forensic examinations and staying updated with latest attack techniques.
  • Developing and evolving SOC response procedures based on MITRE ATT&CK.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant technical field.
  • 5+ years in cybersecurity, incident response, or related roles.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, GREM, plus a Forensics certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of cloud, telecom infrastructure, virtual environments, web apps, and APIs.
  • Experience with forensic tools and scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Perl).
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, malware, and attack vectors.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
