ONxpress Civils is seeking an experienced Cost Controller for a newly created role in Ontario. The candidate will manage cost control procedures, prepare payment applications, and coordinate with risk, planning, finance, and procurement to ensure accurate accruals and forecasting.

With 7+ years in project controls within construction, the role requires strong Excel, data analysis, and ERP experience. Travel to projects is required; competitive compensation includes a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• 7+ years of project controls experience in construction.

Responsibilities

• Create and submit Applications for Payment to the client and reply to questions to ensure proper billing.
• Coordinate with Risk, Planners, Finance, IDD/BIM, Supply Chain, and Cost Controller on projects.
• Analyze cost trends, identify variances and explain deviations.
• Develop and implement cost control procedures and workflows.
• Identify data sources and data acquisition techniques for cost control systems.
• Aid cost control, scheduling, supply chain, and finance & project accounting groups as required.
• Prepare and present regular cost reports for internal management including project dashboards, EV, SPI, CPI, variances.
• Organize and attend project meetings.
• Prepare and maintain Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS).
• Maintain project progress data and handle issues.

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more GO service across the network, including the capacity to deliver two-way service every 15 minutes or better on core routes. Work is already underway on new track, station renovations and infrastructure upgrades on parts of the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener and Barrie lines. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network.

What You’ll Do:

• Create and submit Applications for Payment to the client and reply to all the questions or comments that may arise to ensure a proper billing process.
• Coordinate with Risk, Planners, Finance, IDD/BIM, Supply Chain, and Cost Controller on projects to get accurate information related to accruals and forecast.
• Analyze cost trends, identify variances and give explanations for cost deviations.
• Develop and implement cost control procedures and workflows.
• Identify or define the data sources and data acquisition techniques necessary for the proper functioning of the cost control systems.
• Aid cost control, scheduling, supply chain, and finance & project accounting groups as required.
• Prepare and present regular cost reports for internal management including overall project Dashboard, project performance report (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, Variances)
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
• Organize and attend project meetings
• Prepare and maintain Cost Control plans and utilization staffing plans.
• Assist with contract administration and payments to subcontractors.
• Follow up tasks with internal leads and assist with schedule and cost management
• Create and maintain Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) of the project
• Maintain project progress data and handle any issues that arise

What You Bring:

• 7+ years of related project controls experience in construction projects.
• Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes.
• College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high‑pressure work site environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
• Applied knowledge of Project Management and Cost Controls principles.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
• Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
• Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Hard Dollar/InEight and SAP ERP systems is an asset.
• Detail oriented.
• Must be able to travel to projects.

Expected compensation for this role is between $90,000-$120,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration. In addition to base salary ONxpress also offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, RRSP with company matching and the potential to participate in our discretionary, performance based bonus program.
