Job summary

MPA Recruitment is recruiting a Senior Project Manager for our client in Nova Scotia. You will oversee large-scale building projects from $50 million to beyond $300 million, coordinating with clients, subs and internal teams to drive success.

Ideal candidates bring 7–10+ years in ICI construction, engineering background, strong leadership, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management skills, with a focus on HS&E compliance and mentorship.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years’ experience in the ICI construction industry.
• University Degree/Technology Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven track record of project leadership and team collaboration.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills with ability to influence and resolve issues.
• Knowledge of construction methodologies, scheduling, budgets, and codes.
• Health, Safety and Environmental protection leadership and compliance.

Responsibilities

MPA has been retained by one of Canada’s leading construction firms to recruit Senior Project Managers in NS. As an experienced Senior Project Manager in the Building Operations team, you will manage large-scale building and infrastructure projects - ranging from $50 million to upwards of $300 million - while working closely with client groups and subcontractors and acting as an integral part of the clients projects team.

What you will do

• Grow and maintain strong relationships with team members, trade partners, consultants and clients to achieve the project goals and vision;
• Support your project management teams to develop and drive the construction schedule ensuring that completion dates and milestones are met;
• Put your problem-solving skills to work and recommend innovative methods that will increase effectiveness and efficiency to ensure project excellence and productivity;
• Use your proactive approach to ensure compliance with our first-class Quality Program;
• Utilize your experience in trade partner selection and coordination of their activities;
• Apply your financial management experience to plan, manage and respect project budgets, costs and associated purchasing;
• Share your knowledge and be a role model through mentorship opportunities with project team members;
• Keep the lines of communication open regarding project status and updates;
• Be an expert in risk management to ensure any associated project risk is minimized;
• Take pride in compiling and completing companywide project reports;
• Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environmental Protection on the project;
• Effectively apply the requirements of the project specific safety standards to promote HS&E standards, applicable OH&S acts, regulations and codes with all employees and trade partners on the project;
• Celebrate project success and completion and be a key member of the project wrap-up process.

This role could be for you if you have

• 7-10+ years’ experience in Project Management the ICI construction industry;
• University Degree/Technology Diploma in Engineering, or a combination of education and industry experience;
• A proven track record of project leadership, success and team collaboration;
• Outstanding leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues to bring the project to successful completion;
• Strong knowledge of construction and project methodologies, financial management, as well as building codes and associated legislation;
• Role model status for health and safety as well as quality;
• A passion to develop, maintain and execute the project schedule;
• Good computer skills and previous experience with scheduling software;
• Knowledge of the market.
