Sr. Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist

Reporting to the Data Insights and Enablement Director, the Senior BI Specialist will be responsible for creating advanced dashboards, analyzing data trends, automating workflows, and collaborating across departments to design and implement strategies that support business objectives.

You reside in: Toronto OR Ottawa

You'll be responsible for:

1. Capturing business requirements, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder needs and objectives while aligning with Interac’s business objectives.
2. Design, build, and deploy robust BI solutions based on business requirements.
3. Establish visualization best practices, optimize dashboards, and explore innovative data representation methods to uncover new business opportunities across all levels of the organization.
4. Analyze business intelligence data to provide leadership with actionable insights for informed decision-making.
5. Develop in-depth commentary and insights and create compelling presentations that clearly communicate the data's narrative.
6. Develop complex, comprehensive BI reporting packages and dashboards using internal data infrastructure and external data sources.
7. Identify and assess industry/geographic trends, competitor strategies, and customer behavior to anticipate opportunities and challenges.
8. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data in all reporting.

You bring:

1. A degree in Business, Mathematics, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
2. At least 5+ years of hands-on experience as a BI Developer, creating complex dashboards and algorithms.
3. Expert in using BI tools with expertise/certifications in at least one of the following BI software tools: Tableau (Preferred), Power BI, Qlik, Domo, Sisense.
4. Strong knowledge of Python/R and ability to write stored procedures, views, and SQL functions.
5. Strong data modelling and UI/UX design skills considered an asset. Proven experience in data analysis, visualization, and storytelling; developing meaningful and insightful presentations for various stakeholders.
6. Interpret and communicate complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
7. Excellent organization, planning, and prioritizing skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues.
8. Understanding that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
9. You are a proactive problem-solver with a demonstrated track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives.
10. Experience Configuring and maintaining BI environment including row level security is an asset.
11. Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.
