Job summary

Rogers Sports & Media in Ottawa is seeking a Senior Broadcast Technician to join the Broadcast Radio Engineering team. You will provide technical support for on-air, internal and remote staff, and you will maintain and install studio, digital, and transmission systems.

The position requires hands-on experience with broadcast technology, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work rotating after-hours shifts with occasional travel. On-site work location: 475 Richmond Rd, Ottawa, ON.

Qualifications

  • Experience in technical support environment.
  • Experience with modern computer systems and networks, digital audio networks, broadcast automation and transmission systems; networking experience is an asset.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic systems.
  • Proactive attitude to complete projects with minimal supervision.
  • Calm demeanor with strong customer focus.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license.
  • Able to lift and handle equipment and work on ladders under 2 meters.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and cooperate with other Rogers divisions.
  • Coordinate and supervise broadcast technicians.
  • Rotating after-hours on-call with occasional travel.

Sr. Broadcast Technician

Who We're Looking For

Rogers is looking for a Sr Broadcast Technician to join our team of professionals. The succesful candidate will be joining the Broadcast Radio Engineering team.


What You'll Do


  • Provide personalized technical support to on-air, internal and remote staff, including remote assistance the work-from-home.

  • Maintain, repair and install broadcast studio systems, including automation systems.

  • Maintain, repair and install broadcast Digital systems such as live streaming audio and video.

  • Maintain, repair and install AM and FM transmission systems, including microwave and associated subsystems.

  • Create and maintain complete site documentation, including federally mandated transmitter logs.

  • Contribute to planning and execution of capital projects.

  • Coordinate and cooperate with other Rogers divisions.

  • Coordinate and supervise broadcast technicians.

  • Rotating after-hours on-call with occasional travel.

  • Demonstrated experience in technical support environment.

  • Comfortable lifting and handling equipment and working on ladders under 2 meters.

  • Comfort working flexible hours when required and being on a regular after-hours on-call rotation with other team members.
