Job summary

Rogers Sports & Media in Ottawa is seeking a Sr Broadcast Technician to join the Broadcast Radio Engineering team. You will provide hands-on technical support for on-air and remote staff, and maintain studio and digital transmission systems.

You'll work with modern networks, automation, and live streaming technologies, participate in capital projects, and rotate after-hours on-call. The role requires travel up to 25% and onsite work at 475 Richmond Rd, Ottawa.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a technical support environment for broadcast operations.
  • Knowledge of broadcast studio systems, automation, and transmission networks.
  • Proactive, customer-focused with ability to work after hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to on-air, internal and remote staff, including work-from-home assistance.
  • Maintain, repair, and install broadcast studio and digital systems.
  • Maintain AM/FM transmission systems and related subsystems.
  • Create site documentation and transmitter logs as required.
  • Coordinate with Rogers divisions and supervise broadcast technicians.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotations and occasional travel.

Who we're looking for:

Rogers is looking for a Sr Broadcast Technician to join our team of professionals. The succesful candidate will be joining the Broadcast Radio Engineering team.

What you'll do:
  • Provide personalized technical support to on-air, internal and remote staff, including remote assistance the work-from-home.
  • Maintain, repair and install broadcast studio systems, including automation systems.
  • Maintain, repair and install broadcast Digital systems such as live streaming audio and video.
  • Maintain, repair and install AM and FM transmission systems, including microwave and associated subsystems.
  • Create and maintain complete site documentation, including federally mandated transmitter logs.
  • Contribute to planning and execution of capital projects.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with other Rogers divisions.
  • Coordinate and supervise broadcast technicians.
  • Rotating after-hours on-call with occasional travel.
What you'll bring:
  • Demonstrated experience in technical support environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise with modern computer systems and networks, digital audio networks, broadcast automation and transmission systems with networking experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting electronic systems.
  • Proactive attitude excited to complete projects and tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Calm demeanor under challenge with strong customer focus.
  • Comfortable lifting and handling equipment and working on ladders under 2 meters.
  • Comfort working flexible hours when required and being on a regular after-hours on-call rotation with other team members.
