Job Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: The Supervisor, Maintenance supervises a crew of journeypersons and apprentices in accordance with the principles of the Employee Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the Karmax Heavy Stamping Employee Handbook and Employment Standards Act. This position schedules, coordinates and directs the activities of the crew to ensure that company safety, production and quality standards are met in a JIT automotive manufacturing environment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Certified tradesperson or completion of a technical diploma program (2 years+) from an accredited college or university. Minimum one year of experience in a leadership role (preferably automotive manufacturing). Minimum five years of experience in an industrial environment. Strong technical background in one of the following processes: Metal Forming (Stamping/Hydroforming) or Robotic Welding Assembly Lines. Knowledge, experience and formal training with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation 851 (Industrial Establishments). Excellent organization and planning skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Salary starting at $106,142.40 annually. Immediate, open position. Facilitate the day to day operations of the assigned maintenance area under the direction of the Maintenance Manager; Attend daily production meetings and participate in problem solving with the production team for assigned maintenance area. Administer documentation in the following areas: equipment PM’s, purchase requisitions, estimate part costs, quotations, employee time and attendance processing, employee vacation planning, work history cards, and annual reviews/ Demonstrate a high level of initiative and lead by example. Support program launches and help in the development of the maintenance launch team. Able to coordinate a large volume of work by utilizing the assigned maintenance staff. Provide safety instructions for assigned maintenance team, including the use of personal protective equipment, proper housekeeping, and report/recognize unsafe work conditions. Committed to continuous improvement on machinery, equipment, and processes. Communicate and coordinate program changes on existing equipment with production, engineering, and management. Conduct safety talks, staff meetings, and department meetings. Conduct annual/probationary performance appraisals for personnel. Enforce Karmax safety rules, document violations, and propose necessary disciplinary actions. Administer first aid when necessary and fill out reports. Perform regular workplace inspections in assigned maintenance area and report any hazardous conditions and/or take immediate corrective actions. Be involved in accident/incident investigations and generate reports as necessary. Ensure that new employees are trained on plant/department hazards and safe operations of equipment. Work within the guidelines of the Karmax Employee Handbook.
