Job summary

Magna International is seeking a Shift Leader–Mechanical to lead the maintenance shift, ensure production support, and uphold lean manufacturing practices on the shop floor.

Minimum requirements: Grade 12 or GED; Certificate of Qualification Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433; and at least 2 years as a licensed Millwright. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Karmax software is expected.

• Minimum 2 years experience as a licensed Millwright.

Responsibilities

• Salary: Starting at $49.17 per hour.
• Immediate, open position
• Assists in the training of Trade Co-op Students, Apprentices and Journeyman in accordance with the Employee Charter and Karmax Handbook policies.
• Assists in plant support, troubleshooting, repairs and system improvements.
• Organizes and coordinates the activities of Maintenance employees to ensure production/repairs meet quality standards.
• Responsible for the effective operation of the crew during off shifts or during the absence of the Technical Leader or Supervisor.
• Perform duties environmentally responsibly per Karmax Environmental Policy—3 P’s.
• Able to perform various computer functions (Microsoft Office, Karmax Software).
• Able to safely operate all Materials Handling Equipment (Forklift, crane, buggy).
• Must be able to work in various locations within/outside the Manufacturing Plant.
• Must be able to work with and communicate effectively with others.
• Other duties may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shift Leader–Mechanical is primarily responsible for ensuring production support and assigned work is completed by the shift. This position will have a strong working knowledge of the shop floor and all things associated with leading a maintenance shift in a lean manufacturing environment.
