Position Overview

In this role, you will travel across Alberta and Saskatchewan supporting clients to maintain access and safety along utility corridors and power stations. Candidates must possess a class 5 driver's license and have access to a vehicle to travel to our Nisku AB office for training and mobilization.

This position involves applying herbicides to manage brush and noxious weeds on utility facilities, power lines, industrial rights-of-way, wind turbines, and roadways. Treatments range from backpack applications to large-scale foliar treatments using trucks, all-terrain vehicles, and heavy equipment.

Job Duties
  • Perform chemical and mechanical vegetation control.
  • Maintain detailed records of herbicide use, inventory, and equipment.
  • Operate herbicide applicator following all safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment properly.
  • Follow Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage customer service expectations.
Qualifications
  • No experience necessary; herbicidal application experience is preferred.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license.
  • Assets include: Air brakes, herbicide applicator certification, H2S, WHMIS, First Aid with CPR, ATV training, heavy equipment experience.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Attention to detail; proficiency with tablets, Windows, and Excel is required for crew leaders.
  • Ability to work safely in a team and willingness to learn and advance.
Additional Information
  • Extensive travel required; hotel and expenses covered by Davey.
  • Wages depend on experience and certifications; opportunities for advancement and full-time employment.
  • Wage range: $20.00 - $27.00 plus a $50 tax-free living allowance for out-of-town work.
  • Start: Early May; end: August/September.
  • Safety gear provided; employees must supply CSA steel-toed rubber boots.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Ongoing training and advancement opportunities available.
