Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. Catharines, ON, invites applications for a Spiritual Care Practitioner to support patients, families and staff with spiritual, religious and emotional care.

The role contributes to compassionate, whole-person care within a diverse, interprofessional team. The position offers Regular Full-Time and Regular Part-Time opportunities, providing direct spiritual care, participation in ethical discussions, and care documentation in a hospital

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity or Master of Pastoral Studies or equivalent.
• Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner with CASC or in progress.
• Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or in progress.
• Minimum of two years recent pastoral care experience in a hospital setting.
• Endorsement from a recognized faith group required.
• English and French proficiency considered an asset.

Position: Spiritual Care Practitioner
Position Type: Regular Full-Time (N-4-26) and Regular Part-Time (N-5-26) Positions Available
Hourly Rate of Pay: $39.65 - $52.13

We are seeking a Spiritual Care Practitioner to provide spiritual / religious / emotional support and supportive counselling on the basis of need to patients, family, and HDS team members.

• Provides high quality spiritual care that is consistent with the Mission and Values of Hotel Dieu Shaver.
• Provides direct religious and spiritual care to patients, families/friends and staff at HDS ensuring their spirituality, faith traditions, diversity and culture are respected.
• Provides support in ethical discussion and difficult decision making by patients, their families and staff.
• Provide appropriate opportunities for worship, prayer, sacraments and other rituals.
• Has the ability to work independently and as a team member in a multi-faith, multi-cultural setting.
• Possess proficient computer skills preferably in Microsoft Word, Meditech and Emerald.
• Has strong clinical documentation skills.
• Possess excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills to facilitate strong working relationships with patients, families, spiritual care team, interdisciplinary team and community partners.
• Availability and accessible to patients, loved ones and staff within the continuum of care, especially those experiencing spiritual and emotional distress.
• Engages and advocates for the care and treatment of the whole person (spiritual, psychological, mental and social) during their hospital experience.
• Excellent counselling/clinical skills and compliance with confidentiality requirements.
• Must have an excellent attendance record.

The successful candidate will possess:

• Undergraduate and a Master of Divinity or Master of Pastoral Studies degree or equivalent.
• Current certification as Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC), or in the process of completing certification.
• Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or in the process of completing registration.
• A minimum of two years recent pastoral care experience in a hospital setting, preferably in a complex care or rehabilitation setting.
• A letter of endorsement from a recognized faith group required.
• Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset

*Must be willing to work on a rotational basis during days, weekends and holidays as scheduled by the Director of Mission and Pastoral Services.*
