Job summary

Pathways Health Centre for Children is recruiting a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide services to children, Indigenous communities, and partner programs. The role includes screenings, assessments, intervention supports, swallowing/feeding screenings, augmentative communication, and education for families and schools.

The successful candidate will work under supervision with the Clinical Services team, collaborating with communities and caregivers to promote effective communication outcomes

Qualifications

  • Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) in good standing.
  • Cultural Competency training is an asset.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Efficient and effective time management and service delivery.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with children with autism is preferred.
  • Experience working with children with special needs and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services to Pathways clients, including screenings, assessments, intervention supports, and consultations.
  • Swallowing and feeding screenings as part of multidisciplinary care.
  • Support augmentative communication and counseling/education to families, caregivers, schools, and community.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous communities and Pathways team to deliver pediatric services.

Speech-Language Pathologist, Pathways Health Centre for Children

Pathways Health Centre for Children is a charitable not-for-profit family-centered community agency serving children and youth with physical, developmental and communication needs. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025, the Centre provides a full range of pediatric rehabilitation and support services, largely funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. In addition, Pathways offers a therapeutic pool, open to people of all ages and abilities in the community and has a licensed, integrated childcare service on site (C.A.C.H.É.).

We are currently recruiting to replace a full-time permanent:

Speech-Language Pathologist

Under the general direction of a Supervisor of Clinical Services, and in partnership with the Clinical Services team, the Speech Language Pathologist will provide service to clients of Pathways Health Centre for Children, with the local Indigenous communities at Bkejwanong Walpole Island and Aamjiwnaang, and other programs needing Speech- Language support. This could include but may not be limited to screenings, assessments, intervention supports, consultation, swallowing and feeding screenings, augmentative communications and counseling and education to families, primary caregivers, schools and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Registration and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
  • Cultural Competency training is an asset
  • Fluency in French is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team membersEnthusiastic about working with children and their caregivers
  • Efficient and effective time management and service delivery skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with children with autism, preferred

Salary Range: $37.22 – 46.52 (dependent on experience)

The successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license and maintain adequate liability insurance or must have ongoing access to a vehicle and driver for Pathways business. A Vulnerable Sector Police Check is also required at time of hire (dated within the last 6 months).
