As a Speech-Language Pathologist (Full-Time, Location: Sudbury, Espanola, Manitoulin Island, Elliot Lake, North Bay, Timmins, Kirkland Lake, Haileybury, or Parry Sound), you will provide speech-language pathology services to Ontario Health atHome patients to address and improve communication and/or swallowing disorders.

Whether working in our office, in the community, or in a healthcare facility, you will play a key role in providing connected, accessible, patient-centered care, supported by our collaborative team of over 9,000 healthcare and other professionals.

Your mission as a valued team member is to help our patients be healthier at home, while benefiting from our support for professional growth, personal wellness, and work-life balance.

What will you do?

  • Respond to patient referrals from Care Coordinators to administer speech-language pathology services.
  • Assess communication and swallowing abilities using standardized and non-standardized tools to determine treatment needs and goals.
  • Develop and implement treatment programs and strategies to meet therapy goals related to communication, language, and swallowing functions.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Educate and train patients, families, caregivers, and substitute decision-makers on treatment plans.
  • Coordinate with other services or organizations as necessary.
  • Respect patients' needs, choices, values, and preferences in resource allocation.
  • Document assessments, goals, treatment plans, and interventions accurately.

What must you have?

  • Registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist with CASLPO in good standing.
  • Deep knowledge of speech-language pathology services and community resources.
  • Understanding of other healthcare professionals' roles.
  • Relevant experience in community or healthcare settings.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of tools, equipment, and assistive technology.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (healthcare, privacy, safety).
  • Knowledge of CASLPO standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to prioritize duties and manage multiple patients efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Effective listening, observation, and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in various formats.
  • Proficiency with computer software and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel.
  • Fluency in English; French proficiency is an asset.

What would give you the edge?

  • Experience with diverse patient groups.
  • Case management or recent community experience.
  • Ability to speak French or another second language.
