Job summary

School District No. 27 is seeking a part-time Speech Language Pathologist (0.2 FTE) for the Williams Lake area. The role runs September 1, 2026 to November 13, 2026, providing itinerant speech-language services across multiple public schools.

The successful candidate will conduct screenings and assessments, develop intervention plans, and support students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, with emphasis on primary grades, collaborating with school staff and families.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
  • Eligible for certification with Speech and Audiology Canada (SAC) and membership with Speech and Hearing BC (SHBC).
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a vehicle; district vehicle provided for longer distances.
  • Criminal Record Check is required for employment with BC School Districts.
  • Active registrant of the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHBC).
  • Experience in a school setting and with First Nations students/families are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide itinerant speech and language services to several public schools.
  • Provide consultation, direct service, and home programs for students K–12 (focus on primary grades).
  • Complete speech and language screening and assessments using standardized and informal measures.
  • Design and implement intervention strategies for students with communication disorders across a wide spectrum of needs.
  • Support students requiring augmentative communication.
  • Participate in school-based team meetings.
  • Provide direction to and work with EAs in the speech and language program.
  • Inform teachers, parents and others about communication development and disorders.

Description Of Assignment

Speech Language Pathologist 0.2 FTE (one day per week) Part Time, Temporary. Effective September 1st, 2026 until November 13th, 2026. This position will provide service to students in Williams Lake and area.

The Speech Language Pathologist will
  • provide itinerant speech & language services to several public schools
  • provide consultation, direct service, and home programs where appropriate for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 (with emphasis on the primary grades)
  • complete speech & language screening and assessments using standardized as well as informal measures
  • design and implement intervention strategies for students with communication disorders. This will include supporting students across a wide spectrum of needs, including those with learning disabilities, autism, and other developmental disabilities
  • some students may require various forms of augmentative communication
  • participate in school-based team meetings
  • provide direction for and work with EA's working in the speech and language program
  • provide information about communication development and disorders to teachers, parents and others in the school setting and in the community
Salary

The salary of this assignment is based on our current salary grid and upon verification of your Master's Degree as well as verification of years of service from previous employers. The current salary range is $80, 347.00 to $123, 266.00 per annum, paid over 10 months and pro‑rated to the FTE of the assignment.

Special Qualifications Required
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution
  • eligible for certification with Speech and Audiology Canada (SAC) and membership with Speech and Hearing BC
  • valid BC Drivers License and your own vehicle. Access to a School District vehicle is provided for longer distances
  • previous experience working in a school setting would be considered an asset
  • previous experience working with First Nations students and families would be considered an asset
  • demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
