Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities

The incumbent demonstrates competency in speech pathology for pediatric, adult, or geriatric patients as applicable for the site/level of care of employment. The incumbent provides patient assessments, develops and implements individual patient treatment programs, provides therapeutic interventions utilizing current and effective methodologies, and maintains effective documentation.

  1. Evaluations: Completed according to department protocol within 48 hours of initiation.
  2. Treatment: Provides effective treatment, following department guidelines. Performs ongoing assessment, modifies goals and treatment as appropriate, and demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles.
  3. Patient/Family Education: Addresses educational needs with appropriate teaching methods.
  4. Documentation: Completes documentation timely, legible, with correct grammar, using medical terminology and approved abbreviations. Reflects all interventions, assessments, and changes. Complies with quality improvement policies and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ensures timely completion of timecards, billing, and logs.
  5. Communication & Collaboration: Communicates treatment plans and patient status effectively, participates in team conferences, and addresses payor guidelines and patient concerns promptly. Seeks feedback to improve teamwork, with minimal complaints.
  6. Delegation & Supervision: Delegates and supervises support staff and students appropriately, provides clinical supervision, and leads by example.
  7. Time Management: Meets productivity standards, manages time effectively, and initiates necessary schedule adjustments.
  8. Additional Duties: Performs other duties professionally as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements: Previous speech pathology experience preferred; current BLS certification required. Must have knowledge, skills, and abilities as specified.

Education: Graduation from an accredited Speech Pathology program, current California State licensure, MA/MS degree required.

Preferred: Previous experience as a speech pathologist.

Licensure: Consideration for candidates without CCC if staffing allows; must obtain within 12 months of hire.
