Job summary

EXP Services Inc. in New Brunswick is seeking a Specifications Writer to join our design team.

You will develop architectural and engineering specifications, work with CCDC contracts, and support project teams to deliver clear, accurate documentation. The ideal candidate holds a diploma in architectural or engineering technology, at least five years of specification writing experience, and shows strong communication, detail orientation, and time management.

Qualifications

• Diploma in architectural or engineering technology or related discipline.
• Minimum of five years of experience in specification writing.
• Knowledge of MasterFormat/SectionFormat; CSP/RSW and LEED are assets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tender packages including contracts and specifications.
• Coordinate information provided on specifications and drawings.
• Interpret technical specifications and contract clauses and provide direction to project managers and design staff.

In this role, you will be a part of the Design team, in the Buildings Group, based in New Brunswick.

Our ideal candidate would have experience in some or all the following areas: technical specification writing in both architectural and engineering fields, contract writing using CCDC contract base documents, contract administration, awareness of building construction and processes, working as part of a design team, and working in an ISO 9001 registered company.

We are seeking individuals who are excited to participate with an established team of professional engineers and technologists in developing innovative multidisciplinary design solutions with an emphasis on client satisfaction.

What your experience looks like

• Diploma in architectural or engineering technology or other related discipline;
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in specification writing
• Accreditation of either Certified Specification Practitioner (CSP) or Registered Specification Writer (RSW) is an asset;
• LEED accreditation is an asset;
• Knowledge of construction specification formats including MasterFormat/ SectionFormat;
• Exemplary interpersonal skills with team members and various design disciplines;
• Detail-oriented, organized, hardworking, with a team player attitude;
• Effective time management and an ability to perform well under pressure to meet deadlines; and
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
