About Our Opportunity:

Working within the mission, vision, values, and person-centred philosophy of the Agency, the Program Manager is responsible for the management, quality, and supervision of a complex, multi-site portfolio, including managing a youth safe house, pre-employment program, arts program, 2SLGBTIA+ program and overseeing the Reaching Home subsidy program. As a member of the management team, the Program Manager supervises staff members, participates in budgeting, and manages within their budget, as well as fostering relationships with funders and other internal and external parties. The manager will work with colleagues and co-workers in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve excellence in client and family-centered care, within a complex multi-site environment that extends to the community. It actively supports the Agency’s awareness and goals around diversity and inclusion.

·Three weeks’ vacation for full-time staff * entitlement increases from there

·Three paid household leave days a year

·Two paid Wellness Days a year

·Two and a half paid Agency days for full-time staff

·Five paid days for education leave/year

·One paid Moving Day/year

Salary: MGP5 $91,747.50 - $101,731.50 annual salary range

What do you need to succeed?

Education, Training, Experience

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Social Work, Psychology, or other related field, with 7 years’ experience in the sector, and 5 years’ experience in progressive leadership roles
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Master’s Degree is an asset

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Awareness of community services, resources, and systems and ability to work with these; competence in working with a multicultural community, prioritizing issues related to diversity and inclusion
  • Basic computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database is required for this role;
  • Basic accounting skills and familiarity with QuickBooks are an asset
  • A committed ability to keep informed about evolving trends and practices, share knowledge, and support staff to integrate innovation into the delivery of quality care/services
  • Strong ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop, manage, and evaluate clinical programs, considering client needs, service delivery interrelationships, and service potential within a complex environment
  • Ability to understand available resources for programs and keep quality in the forefront of all resource utilization decisions; providing feedback and detailed analysis on budget variances, and making recommendations for corrective action
  • Thorough knowledge of adolescent development, at-risk youth, child welfare system, substance misuse, mental health issues, and trauma-informed practice

Program Planning and Management

  • Communicate program/unit and budget strategic direction incorporating FSGV’s vision, values, and strategic direction and ensure integration into practice by interdisciplinary team members
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with government agencies and all professional and non-professional groups or individuals involved with the programs including relevant education bodies and grant funders
  • Develop, recommend, implement, and evaluate staffing patterns, rotations, and vacation schedules to ensure staffing meets client needs
  • Participate in 24-7 management support of programs, including on-call support on a rotating schedule

Program Quality

  • Write reports on programs and services for senior management and funders
  • Monitor program activities regularly to ensure quality services
  • Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve successful program outcomes

Performance Management

  • Supervise program staff by recruiting, hiring, providing direction, input, and feedback; regularly meeting with staff and team to engage, support, and mentor program staff
  • Implement effective performance management processes in an interdisciplinary team environment

Additional Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
  • Valid BC Driver’s license is an asset
  • Standard First Aid CPR-AED, Food Safe Level 1, Naloxone Training and Crisis Intervention training are an asset
