Job Description
The Senior Tax Analyst, Indirect Tax position is part of the Indirect Tax Group within Tax Services of Finance reporting to the Specialized Finance Manager. The position is responsible for sales tax audit and compliance of TD Bank Group ("TDBG") and provides operational tax support to business areas and subsidiaries. The position is a subject matter expert for providing advice and guidance to internal customers on Indirect Tax issues.
Key Accountabilities Include
- Assist audit manager to manage Indirect Tax audits from commencement to completion including fielding audit query requests, review audit proposals and reassessments.
- Assist in the preparation of Indirect Tax and Information returns as required;
- Provide advice and guidance to internal customers to implement required processing changes to address audit findings;
- Provide tax research support;
- Support the corporate accounting cycle (e.g., monthly attestation and reconciliation of internal general ledger accounts);
- Build good relationships with external auditors and internal colleagues across the bank within and outside our Taxation Services team;
- Participate in tax development training to keep abreast on sales taxes and other relevant topics.
Education/Accreditations
- Undergraduate degree
- Accounting designation or equivalent an asset but not required.
Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience in tax and accounting capacities.
- Advanced level working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on data analysis.
- Self-motivated individual with time management skills and ability to multi-task.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills for interacting with business partners at all levels and external auditors.
- Team player who takes the initiative to accomplish department objectives.
