Job summary

A leading mining company in northern Québec is seeking a Specialized Day Laborer to maintain and renovate various facilities at the Windfall site. The ideal candidate will have a vocational diploma in carpentry and joinery along with 3 to 5 years of experience. This position involves a 15-day work schedule followed by 13 days off, with accommodation and meals provided. We are looking for someone detail-oriented and resourceful who enjoys manual work.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in carpentry or relevant training.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.

Reporting to the surface service supervisor, the specialized day laborer surface service will participate in the maintenance of the entire camp. Based at the Windfall site, located in the Northern Quebec region, he or she will be required to work a 15-day work schedule followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals are provided.

Duties and responsibilities

•Maintain, repair, and renovate buildings and other facilities on site;

•Measure, cut, and assemble wood/melamine components;

•Adjust and install carpentry components such as doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware;

•Perform other manual work, such as painting, plumbing, basic tiling, replacement of appliances/air conditioning, etc.;

•Keep track of job-related inventories (wood, hardware, etc.);

•Be able to recommend improvements and suggest alternative methods (problem solving);

•Handle various objects weighing up to 22 kilograms;

•Report any situation that could affect the work and safety of workers to your supervisor;

•Share any suggestions for improvement and innovative ideas;

•Comply at all times with health, safety, and environmental policies and rules;

•Assist surface supervisors in their daily tasks;

•Comply at all times with occupational health, safety, and environmental policies and rules;

•Perform any other tasks related to the position of specialized day laborer surface servicethat are relevant to the success of the project.

Required qualifications

•A vocational diploma in carpentry and joinery with 3 to 5 years of experience or any combination of relevant training and experience will be considered;

•Valid Class 5 driver's license.

Technical skills

•Skills and good knowledge of carpentry;

•Knowledge of cleaning products and safe handling methods (WHMIS);

•Possess certification to operate Skytrack lifting equipment (an asset);

•Experience operating heavy machinery (an asset).

Basic skills

•Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in carpentry;

•Ability to read and interpret plans;

•Ability to work physically and outdoors in difficult weather conditions;

•Ability to lift loads of up to 22 kg;

•Ability to work at heights;

•Enjoy manual work and be resourceful;

•Be detail-oriented;

•Demonstrate autonomy.
