Job summary

Airbus Canada is looking for a static, fatigue, and damage tolerance stress specialist to join their engineering team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting aircraft programs, providing technical guidance on defect approvals, and ensuring compliance with airworthiness regulations. A strong background in mechanical or aerospace engineering with relevant experience is required. Knowledge of MRB processes and familiarity with aerospace materials will be advantageous. Proficiency in English and French is necessary for this role.

Your Main Tasks and Responsibilities Will Include :

As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, your skills in calculation and analysis will be called upon to support the aircraft programs in the capacity of static, fatigue, and damage tolerance stress specialist.

You will review, make recommendations, and provide final MRB (Material Review Board) stress approvals of reworks and repairs on defects produced during final assembly line, such as :

  • Recommendations and justifications on acceptance of defects without repair.
  • Removal and replacement of damaged parts.
  • Rework acceptance will be based on equivalent strength capability, equivalent account stress levels and environmental conditions.
  • The technical solutions are established for metallic and composite structures.

In your role, you will :

  • Work closely with other Engineering disciplines such as Liaison, Systems Stress, Materials & Processes, and Propulsion to achieve the company’s business objectives.
  • Engage with Stress engineering team offsite to resolve key technical issues.
  • Support the delivery process by providing technical expertise to delivery teams and external customers.
  • Exchange information and collaborate with other FAL sites to ensure sharing of technical knowledge.
  • Document analyses on stress work files.
  • Provide substantiation for repairs on structural non-conformances promptly to restore design integrity in the sub-assembly, final line, and preflight areas of the A220 Aircraft build.
  • Coordinate proposed repair solutions with other A220 stakeholders and considering the implications of Airworthiness regulations, Materials and Processes, Aerodynamic effects, and any other relevant functions.
  • Adhere to the A220 Material Review Board (MRB) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures.
  • Perform internal audits as per ISO standards, Transport Canada regulations, NADCAP, and Six Sigma.

Your Boarding Pass :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in stress analysis in the aerospace industry. Good knowledge of aircraft metallic structure stress analysis (practical experience on A220 structures is an asset).
  • You have Material Review Board (MRB) or MAP experience in commercial / business aircrafts and / or previous MRB delegation is an asset.
  • You have experience in static, fatigue, damage tolerance analysis and finite element analysis.
  • You have a good command of composite materials.
  • You have knowledge of stress calculations / justifications.
  • You have knowledge of aeronautical used materials.
  • You are able to work autonomously and be a good team player.
  • Proficiency in interpreting aircraft structure drawings (CATIA V5 experience is an asset).
  • Good understanding of applicable airworthiness regulations (experience with Transport Canada is an asset).
  • Knowledge of Customer Operations, Product Integrity / Liability, and maintenance operations is an asset.
  • Dynamic person with initiative, a strong sense of responsibility, and customer orientation.
  • Organized, able to manage your time and prioritize tasks effectively, while working toward tight deadlines.

Negotiation-level proficiency in English and French is required.
