Cogeco Connexion Inc in Burlington, Ontario is seeking a Provisioning Engineer to support enterprise-wide CPE activation, provisioning, and operations platforms. You will manage the HSD provisioning system, work on Cisco devices, and coordinate with regional teams to ensure reliable service delivery.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in Cable/MSO environments, strong knowledge of DOCSIS/DNS/TFTP, and excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in the Cable/MSO environment or similar industry.
• Good understanding of DOCSIS, QAM Video, IP Video, Packet Cable.
• Knowledge of control platforms (DAC, DNCS, CMTS, OLT, vCMTS).
• Strong networking knowledge and IPV6.
• Familiar with DHCP, DNS, SNMP, and TFTP protocols.

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting design, development, implementing and maintaining of enterprise-wide customer premises equipment (CPE) activation, provisioning, and operations applications and their associated operating systems and databases. Responsible for Application Administration of CPE activation, provisioning, and operations platforms applications supporting all Atlantic Broadband. Participation in full life-cycle of systems engineering activities of high-quality, scalable solutions.

The Provisioning engineer is responsible for the management, maintenance and daily monitoring of the regions HSD provision system, including related systems that provide HSD, PON and similar services, and general oversight of the regional provisioning environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with the HSD environment, Cable TV infrastructure, protocols such as DHCP, TFTP, DOCSIS provisioning and network troubleshooting, the ability to manage multiple projects, and possess excellent troubleshooting skills.

Job Responsibilities

• Installs, administers, configures and maintains CPE activation, provisioning, and operations applications including operating systems and related software
• Provides ‘on call’ support to resolve CPE activation, provisioning, and operations application issues after normal business hours.
• Monitor and manage Cisco CNR/PNR IP address provisioning
• Monitor and manage Cisco RDU/PCP device provisioning
• Monitor and manage Cisco DPE TFTP service
• Monitor and manage regional IP assignment an usage as related to HSD services
• Proactively anticipate service needs and changes and react accordingly.
• Work with other regional Provisioning engineers to provide support and backup
• Assist with the development, analysis, configuration, and implementation of service changes.
• Project planning, including cost analysis and timeline estimates
• Working with other regional teams such as TechOps, TAC, ASG and BSG in troubleshooting one-off and regional service issues
• Working with other regional engineers in testing of new products and services
• Work with vendors and other third-parties as necessary for product support and integration
• Participate in future technology direction discussions leveraging experience and active research
• Documentation of systems and application design and configuration
• Participate in off-hours maintenance as necessary

Job Qualifications :

• Good understanding of DOCSIS, QAM Video, IP Video, Packet Cable
• Understanding of eMTA, cable modems and ONT operations
• Knowledge of control platforms (DAC, DNCS, CMTS, OLT, vCMTS)
• Knowledge of general networking and IPV6
• Strong knowledge of troubleshooting tools (i.e tcpdump, netstat, iostat, traceroute, snoop)
• Solid understanding of LAN/WAN topology, network protocols (TCP/IP, FTP, NFS), switches and firewalls
• Comprehension of the DHCP, DNS, SNMP, and TFTP protocols
• 5+ years in the Cable/MSO environment or similar industry
• Working experience with DOCSIS provisioning
• Understanding of Cable RF infrastructure, specifically how this relates to DOCSIS
• Understanding of network connectivity and troubleshooting
• Availability to resolve urgent provisioning environment problems outside of business hours.
• Clear and effective communication skills, both written and spoken
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional analytical and technical aptitude.
• Great organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with daily operation of Cisco CNR/PRN and RDU/PCP
• Experience building and understanding Cable Modem configuration files
• Experience activating/maintaining CPE per the DOCSIS, PacketCable, and SNMP specifications
• Experience with configuration of CPE using the TR-069 and related specifications
• MySQL, Perl, PHP, BASH, LAMP/SAMP
• Experience with PacketCable and SIP
• Experience with SNMP
• Experience with troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark
• Advanced Linux experience
• Working experience with MySQL, MongoDB
• Experience with VM
