Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Specialist, Training will play a crucial role in enhancing the organizational learning, training, and development processes within Nuclear projects. This position involves designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of nuclear industry requirements and safety practices. This position is accountable to provide subject matter expertise and administration of the nuclear industry’s training realm.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Plan, research, develop, evaluate and implement processes, policies and procedures utilized for the development of strategies and business initiatives that address the subsidiary’s requirements

• Collaborate with and act as a subject matter expert in the industry to create and contract out comprehensive training programs, educational materials and resources.

• Act as a subject matter expert in industry training to develop, implement, coach and assist staff in the administration and interpretation of federal regulations; providing advice that is appropriate, practical and consistent with relevant legislation, regulations, laws and/or industry standards.

• Conduct assessments to identify learning needs and gaps within the organization.

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs as well as ensuring that they comply with all regulatory and safety standards.

• Maintain knowledge of nuclear industry developments and best practices related to area of specialization and adapt them to SaskPower’s Nuclear operational environment.

• Stay updated with the latest advancements in nuclear technology and safety regulations.

• Represent the department and prepare and present material, workshops, seminars, and training to internal and external audiences as required

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Education Certificate, or other related equivalent AND/OR;

• Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR’

• Five (5) years of related experience in organizational learning or training within a regulated industry (nuclear will be an asset).

• Strong knowledge of learning technology and safety practices.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to liaison with contractors and consultants on training related matters.

• Proven ability to interact with training materials design and deliver to organizations and institutions.

• Analytical skills to assess learning needs and evaluate program effectiveness.

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

• Expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

• Proficiency in using learning management systems and other training tools.

• Must pass mandatory security clearance at the level identified for this role

• Must have a continuing record of professional development
