Job summary

Centerra Gold invites applications for an IT Services Specialist at Mount Milligan Mine, Fort St. James, BC. This camp‑based, on‑site role focuses on desktop and network support for end users, with exposure to server management and enterprise infrastructure.

You will maintain Hyper‑V/VMware, manage Windows Server and network systems, and work with cybersecurity teams to ensure policy alignment. A relevant degree and 3+ years’ experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or Information technology related field.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Minimum of 3 years professional hands‑on experience in similar role.
  • Highly comfortable in interacting with others, in person, on the phone and via remote tools.
  • Capable of providing extended hours when required to meet deadlines.
  • Work with tools and equipment in Indoor, Outdoor and Industrial environments.
  • Work effectively independently and in a team environment with a positive attitude.
  • Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Fortinet FCP, Microsoft Server certs) is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge in network and server administration, enterprise virtualization, and M365 services.
  • Ability to frequently travel to remote mine sites.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor on-prem Hyper‑V/VMware cluster and Windows Server infra.
  • Administer, troubleshoot and enhance complex network infrastructure (Fortinet, Cisco, wireless, phones).
  • Install, configure, and maintain computers, workstations, and peripherals.
  • Provide support to Mine site end users promptly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Global Infrastructure and Cyber Security teams on policies and best practices.
  • Secure IT systems against unauthorized use and protect data confidentiality.
  • Maintain backup systems to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems; document processes and configurations.
  • Follow documented processes and IT code of conduct.
  • Respond to alerts from IT monitoring dashboards.

About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck‑shovel open‑pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi‑Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol‑free workplace and has adopted a zero‑tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Supervisor, IT Systems, theSpecialist, IT Services will primarily be responsible for providing desktop and network support for the end‑users at Mount Milligan Mine site. The incumbent in this position will also gain hands on experience working with network and server management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and monitor on‑premises Hyper‑V/VMWare HA cluster and Windows Server infrastructure, including enterprise storage, database servers, AD objects, and mobile devices.
  • Administer, troubleshoot and enhance complex network infrastructure, including Fortinet firewalls, Cisco switches, wireless access points, internet connectivity, Phone systems, and relevant network and radio communication equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computers, workstations, and other end user hardware and peripherals.
  • Provide support to Mine site end users. Ensure that IT service requests and technical issues are addressed promptly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Infrastructure and Cyber Security team to ensure compliance with the Corporate IT policies, cybersecurity standards and best practices, while driving continuous improvement initiatives for MTM IT infrastructure.
  • Work to secure IT systems against unauthorized use.
  • Work to protect the security and confidentiality of data.
  • Maintain backup systems to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems; provide support for all services relating to IT systems.
  • Document jobs, work and processes, create and update IT technical documentation including network diagrams, system configurations, asset inventory and knowledge articles.
  • Follow documented processes, procedures, company policies & IT Code of Conduct.
  • Respond to alerts from various IT Enterprise network and application monitoring dashboards for Virtual machines, Antivirus, Malware, Firewall Management, Active Directory, Network Performance, SIEM, Backups, and Cloud Services.
  • Offer recommendations and observations for improving IT Services.
  • Work to deliver IT Plans and Objectives.
  • Be available to work at any BC location where shared IT services are required.
  • Support all global and local technology projects.
  • Other related tasks and duties as assigned.
About You

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skillset and experience:

Working Conditions

  • Camp-based role working 12‑hour days on a 14 day on/14 day off rotation, with accommodation provided during rotation.
  • Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, heavy equipment, noise, and moving parts.
  • PPE always required.
  • Safety‑sensitive environment with zero‑tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
