Job summary

OMERS is seeking a Specialist, Information Management to join the Data and Technology team within the Value Management, Risk and Governance area. You will report to the Associate Director, AI and Information Governance.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Information Studies or related field.
  • Professional certification such as IGP, CIP, or CDMP is preferred.
  • Experience in information management, records management, and data governance.

Responsibilities

  • Advance enterprise information management maturity through strategic planning and delivery.
  • Design and enhance information lifecycle management, including records, retention, disposition.
  • Operationalize retention and labeling across Microsoft 365 using Purview.
  • Maintain policies, standards, file plans, and information architectures.
  • Support Records and Data Stewardship programs for accountability.
  • Advance data governance through classification, metadata, data quality.
  • Provide administration for governance tools (Purview, SharePoint, Collibra, Informatica).
  • Partner with business to embed governance in new data capabilities.
  • Deliver advisory services, training, and enablement for governance culture.

Role Summary

We are looking for a motivated Specialist, Information Management to join the dynamic Value Management, Risk and Governance team within OMERS Data and Technology. You will report to the Associate Director, AI and Information Governance. This role will work primarily on Enterprise Information Management (EIM) initiatives, with supporting contributions to Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) programs.

You Will Be Responsible For
  • Support the advancement of enterprise information management maturity at OMERS through strategic planning, execution, and delivery of enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Assist with the design, implementation, and enhancement of information lifecycle management capabilities, including records management, retention, disposition, legal holds, archival preservation, and classification.
  • Operationalize and manage retention, disposition, and records labelling across Microsoft 365 platforms (Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams) using tools such as Microsoft Purview.
  • Support the maintenance of enterprise policies, standards, procedures, file plans, and information architectures that support compliant and scalable information governance and Official Record Repositories.
  • Support the ongoing operations of Records and Data Stewardship programs to ensure consistent ownership, accountability, and oversight of information and data assets.
  • Align and advance data governance capabilities—including data classification, cataloguing, metadata management, data quality, and data lineage—with information management practices.
  • Provide administration, configuration, and user support for enterprise governance tooling (e.g., Microsoft Purview, SharePoint, Collibra, Informatica).
  • Partner with business functions to embed governance requirements into new and evolving information and data capabilities.
  • Deliver enterprise-wide advisory services, training, and enablement to drive adoption, compliance, accountability, and a strong governance culture.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Degree or diploma in Information Studies, Information Management, Library and Information Science, Information Technology Management, or Data Management and/or relevant professional certification such as Information Governance Professional (IGP), Certified Information Professional (CIP), or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP).
  • 3+ years of experience working in information management, records management, and/or data governance capacities.
  • Knowledge and expertise in information management disciplines, including records management, retention and disposition, legal holds, archival preservation, content management systems, and information governance standards and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of data governance practices and technologies, including business process modeling, data classification, data quality, and enterprise implementation of governance tools.
  • Strong ability to analyze business and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical information and data governance solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and time management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both business and technical audiences.
  • Hands-on experience with tooling such as Microsoft Purview, SharePoint, Collibra, and Informatica.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience with SQL, MS SQL/Oracle databases, and visualization tools
  • Experience working in the Finance, Pensions, Investments, or Commercial Real Estate sectors

The expected salary range for this position is $72,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year.
