Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in occupational health and safety, geology, environmental science, natural resources, geological technology, or related discipline.
  • Equivalent education/experience considered.
  • Five to ten years of safety experience in exploration/mining or field-based industrial setting.
  • Hands-on field inspections, hazard and risk assessments, incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Valid driver’s license; ATV/UTV and snowmachine experience in rugged terrain.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, organizational, facilitation and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of safety management systems.

Responsibilities

The Role

Join Cameco's Exploration team and play a critical role in enabling safe and successful field programs. You will work directly with exploration teams and contractors to manage risk, maintain regulatory and environmental compliance, support incident and corrective action processes, coordinate training, and strengthen emergency preparedness and response. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and collaborating closely with different teams. The role combines field leadership and management systems activities, with approximately 30% of the year working in remote northern Saskatchewan sites with the remainder based in the Saskatoon office.


Your work will help ensure our exploration programs are conducted safely, responsibly, and sustainably, protecting our people, the environment, and Cameco's reputation while supporting the discovery of the next generation of world-class uranium deposits.


In This Role, You Will


  • Coordinate routine remote field visits, and site inspections in all weather conditions.

  • Support field-level risk assessments, job hazard assessments and job task and behavioural observations.

  • Ensure safety, health, and radiation protection compliance.

  • Lead or support incident investigations and corrective action follow-through, including developing recommendations, tracking actions, and identifying recurring trends.

  • Support contractor screening, pre-program orientations, performance monitoring, and close‑out activities; act as a contractor coordinator when assigned.

  • Maintain training and management-system records and prepare reports and performance updates.

  • Support the review and improvement of Exploration SHEQ programs, procedures, and work instructions, and provide guidance so requirements remain current and practical.

  • Promote a strong reporting and learning culture by providing practical coaching, sharing of lessons learned, and working collaboratively with various Exploration teams, corporate groups, mine sites, and contractors.


Required


  • diploma or degree in occupational health and safety, geology, environmental science, natural resources, geological technology, or a related discipline;

  • equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience will be considered for applicants without a degree;

  • five to ten years of relevant experience supporting safety in exploration, mining, or another field-based industrial setting;

  • hands-on experience with field inspections, hazard and risk assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions, contractor oversight, emergency preparedness, and compliance activities;

  • valid driver’s license with practical experience with ATV/UTV and snowmachines in rugged terrain;

  • ability to build constructive relationships and influence employees, contractors and technical specialists without direct authority;

  • strong technical writing, communication, organizational, facilitation, and problem‑solving skills.

  • working knowledge of safety management systems;

  • ability to work independently across office and field settings while coordinating multiple priorities and maintaining accurate records; and

  • proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.


Recommended


  • working knowledge of regulatory compliance, risk assessment, investigations, and corrective action processes; and

  • experience working with drilling or other industrial programs in remote locations.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000*
