Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada seeks an experienced professional to lead tooling technology initiatives and oversee long-range technical plans for large-scale refurbishments. You will act as the primary technical interface with the client and Candu Engineering, guiding engineering standards and program direction.

The role emphasizes independent action, SME-level tooling expertise, and the ability to manage complex projects while supporting staff development and recruitment.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• P.Eng. in Ontario and in good standing.
• Minimum 15 years nuclear experience in refurbishments or maintenance.
• Experience managing tooling work with multiple interfacing teams.
• Recognized SME in Tooling Design, Testing and Deployment.
• Strong independent action and specialized tooling system knowledge.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills.
• Excellent client focus and conflict resolution.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Experience with import/export controls.
• Security clearance is a condition of employment.

Overview

Your role

• Act as an authority in one or more Tooling Technologies/Designs.
• Conceive and oversee the development of Tooling programs and long-range technical plans, establishing objectives and priorities.
• Define technical direction, devising methods of achieving program objectives in the most economical and effective manner.
• May be delegated to represent AtkinsRéalis in the development of engineering standards and/or technical forums in his/her area of expertise.
• Participate in the operational planning process.
• Serve as the primary technical interface with the client and Candu Engineering in his/her area of specialization.
• Contribute to the growth of the technology business line and keep conversant with advanced technological trends and developments.
• Provide input on the recruitment and training of competent specialized staff and input into the selection and appraisal of staff, as required.

About you

• Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario and member in good standing.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive nuclear experience in a discipline and field of application relevant to large-scale refurbishments or maintenance services.
• Experience managing tooling work with interfacing requirements involving other engineering teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Human Factors, etc.), Procurement, Quality Assurance, Contracts, and Construction.
• Recognized within Candu and the nuclear industry as a Subject Matter Expert in Tooling Design, Testing and Deployment.
• A marked capacity for sound independent action or decision-making, and a very specialized understanding of Tooling System technology.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff.
• Excellent client focus and conflict resolution skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Other Requirements:

• Experience in executing projects that are subject to import/export controls.
• Security clearance is a condition of employment.
