Job summary

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with special needs, including physical and intellectual disabilities and behavioral or learning challenges. The successful candidate provides academic, physical and emotional support within the school team to promote independence and growth.

The position works 33.83 hours per week, with the schedule determined by the Principal.

Qualifications

• College diploma or degree in a related field or an Educational Assistant Apprenticeship Certificate.
• 2-3 years of prior experience with Special Needs students.
• Experience with behaviour management and with students who have severe behavioural/emotional difficulties.
• Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic, physical and emotional support to students with exceptional needs.
• Work as a professional and integral member of the school team to promote student independence and growth.
• Schedule up to 33.83 hours per week, as determined by the Principal.
