Job summary

The Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Service Centre (CSSMB) seeks a dedicated special education teacher to support adult learners in the General Adult Education program at an Outremont site.

In an inclusive setting, you will identify and support learners with learning difficulties, design tailored interventions, and collaborate with staff to promote student success and confidence.

Qualifications

  • Terminal university degree in special education or school adaptation.
  • Teaching certificate is an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of general adult education.
  • Proficiency in French (spoken and written).
  • Experience with vulnerable clientele with special needs is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, and support adult learners with learning difficulties.
  • Design and implement tailored interventions to develop cognitive skills and academic competencies.
  • Act as a resource person for other staff and parents to support consistent practices.
  • Support teachers in addressing learning difficulties and interventions.
  • Participate in pedagogical reflections and collaborative teaching strategies.
  • Contribute to creating a supportive, structured learning environment for success.
  • Engage in committees and inter-center EBP collaboration.

Being a special education teacher means supporting students in developing their learning strategies and skills to promote their academic success and confidence in their abilities.

On a daily basis, you will identify, assess, and support students with learning difficulties. You will design and implement tailored interventions aimed at developing cognitive skills and academic competencies. You will also act as a resource person for other educational staff and parents to support consistent practices that meet students' needs.

Responsibilities

The Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Service Centre (CSSMB) is looking for a special education teacher to support the educational success of a diverse adult clientele within the General Adult Education (FGA).

In an environment where inclusion, perseverance, and adaptation of pathways are at the heart of practices, the individual will actively contribute to meeting the needs of learners facing various challenges. Through their expertise, they play a key role in developing adapted pedagogical practices, in collaboration with school teams, to promote the achievement of each student's full potential.

Driven by the desire to make a difference, this person participates in creating a supportive, structured, and conducive learning environment for success.

Specific Tasks
  • Support teachers in the prevention and prevention and identification of learning difficulties;
  • Participate in pedagogical reflections with the team (teachers, PNE, management);
  • Propose and implement adapted teaching strategies;
  • Intervene specifically in reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as on cognitive and metacognitive strategies;
  • Identify and recommend adaptive measures according to students' needs;
  • Facilitate learning workshops and participate in co-teaching;
  • Ensure certain pedagogical follow-ups (Tosca reports, follow-up of DES, FLS, alpha students);
  • Participate in pedagogical committees and consultation bodies (e.g., inter-center EBP committee).
Requirements
  • Terminal university degree in a field of specialization appropriate to the position, particularly in special education and school adaptation;
  • Teaching certificate (an asset);
  • Excellent knowledge of general adult education;
  • Experience with vulnerable clientele with special needs (an asset);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and digital pedagogical tools (an asset);
  • Excellent command of the French language, both spoken and written;
  • Proof of passing the French test SEL or CÉFRANC or TECFÉE or the CSSMB's enhanced French exam within three months of hiring at the latest.
