Eastern Townships School Board is hiring a Special Education Technician for Parkview Elementary School in Granby, QC. The role is part-time (30 hours/week) from 7:45am to 2:40pm, temporary through the school year, with a focus on implementing individualized education plans for students with diverse needs.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma of College Studies in Special Care Counselling, is fluent in French and English, and has current first aid training and a refresher course.

Qualifications

• Diploma or attestation of studies equivalent as recognized by authorities.
• First aid certificate (8 hours) or equivalent.
• Refresher course (6 hours) updating skills.
• Fluent in French and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Develops and drafts intervention plans with the principal and multidisciplinary team.
• Leads activities to develop social, cognitive, psychomotor, communication skills.
• Supports students in learning and autonomy development.
• Observes, intervenes, and helps ensure a conducive classroom environment.
• Records observations, writes reports on student situations.
• Collaborates with youth protection agencies and external stakeholders.
• Meets with students, parents and staff to provide information and references.
• Performs related duties as required.
