Maaqtusiis Elementary School in Ahousaht is looking for a Special Education Coordinator to join our team in a pristine village on the beautiful west coast of Vancouver Island. As our school moves to the next level, we are looking for enthusiastic candidates who:

  1. are certified to teach in BC
  2. have education or experience in special education
  3. have skills in developing instructional strategies based on strengths and needs of individual students
  4. are ready and able to collaborate with school teams to adapt, accommodate, and modify learning outcomes for students based on their learning needs
  5. have experience with IEP and SMART goal development
  6. believe that all students can learn to high levels
  7. are student and learning-focused in an action/solution-oriented school
  8. are flexible and adaptable in meeting students’ needs
  9. recognize the importance of building relationships to improve learning
  10. are familiar with the Read Well, Corrective Reading, Reading Master & Saxon Math programs
