Job summary

Toronto Community Housing is seeking dedicated Special Constables to support the Community Safety Unit. You will carry out security duties, investigate incidents, and work with staff to ensure peaceful housing environments for 42 hours weekly in a non‑hybrid, on‑site role.

Qualifications include a secondary school diploma, knowledge of safety practices, and a valid Ontario driver’s license. Training is provided; eligibility for OPS/LEO processes applies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of law enforcement, safety practices and techniques.
• Familiarity with building and fire safety standards and related acts.
• Proven ability to de-escalate situations and maintain tenant relations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general security and safety duties under supervision.
• Investigate complaints and incidents promptly and courteously.
• Work with community staff to effect peaceful transitions and de-escalate situations.
• Establish and maintain harmonious relations with residents.
• Prepare reports/logs of complaints, incidents or inspections.
• Attend court as a witness when required.
• Develop positive working relationships with police, fire, and social agencies.
