Job summary

Vylor, Inc. is offering a 3-month summer internship at one of our field research centers in Canada.

You will work within a team across plant breeding and biotech trait characterization, gaining exposure to field plot management, data collection, and agronomic analyses. Ideal candidates are sophomores or above in Agronomy, Plant Science, Genetics, or related fields with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and a willingness to relocate to the internship location for the summer.

Qualifications

• Knowledge in agronomy, plant breeding, physiology, pathology, genetics, or related biology fields.
• Preference for students with agricultural background.
• Must be enrolled at an accredited university during the internship.
• Willing to relocate to the R&D center geography for the internship.

Responsibilities

• Assist in field plot management, plot maintenance and agronomy tasks.
• Support seed production, harvesting and analysis of plant samples.
• Inoculate to study disease pressure and collect high-quality field data.
• Travel to field locations as part of the data collection effort.
• Support data collection to advance plant breeding and biotech products.
• Manage a small research project with guidance and present a verbal report to peers.

Several research centers house both plant breeding and biotech trait characterization research activities. Sharing resources across research groups facilitates more efficient integrated product development. You will get the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the research center's activities.Position duration varies but typically lasts throughout the summer for three months.Responsibilities - What You'll Do:Work as part of a team in one or more of the following research areas: field plot management, plot maintenance and agronomy, seed production, harvesting and analyzing plant samples, inoculation of disease to facilitate plant pressure, and aid in data collection to support plant breeding & biotech product advancement.Responsible for collection of high-quality field data on specific traits and pests of economic importance.Travel to other field locations as part of the data collection process.Assist Vylor employees located at one of our research centers.Manage your own research project with the expectation of a verbal report to the larger intern group found throughout North America.Gain excellent experience that can be applied to full-time positions in the industry, or in preparation for additional graduate level training in the plant sciences.Qualifications – What You’ll Bring:Priority will be given to students that are at least current sophomores at an accredited university.
