Job summary

Superprof seeks a compassionate caregiver to support an active 8-year-old girl in Whitby, Ontario during a short-term recovery from concussion. Part-time, about 3 hours per day, 3–5 days a week, with potential extension.

Ideal candidate has completed or is pursuing an ECE or homeschooling path, is punctual, organized, and creative in designing engaging learning activities. Driver’s license and Bilingual abilities (French) are valued but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Experience as caregiver or Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or homeschooling experience.
• First Aid & CPR certification is required.
• French as a second language is a major asset for a child attending a French school.
• Valid Driver’s License or reliable means of transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide light academic support and age-appropriate activities within the child’s recovery plan.
• Facilitate arts, crafts, drawing, puzzles, and simple cooking activities as tolerated.
• Help with school assignments in math, reading, and writing as symptoms allow.
• Assist with gentle household tasks when the child is at school or otherwise engaged.

Location: Whitby, Ontario (Non-smoking, pet-free home). Schedule: Part-time (approx. 3 hours/day, 3-5 days per week). Duration: Short-term (1-3 months, with potential to extend).

About Our Family: We are an active, health-conscious family looking for a compassionate and energetic caregiver to support our smart, curious, and vibrant 8-year-old daughter. She is currently recovering from a concussion and is unable to attend school full-time. Our household is a busy, multi-generational home—grandparents live on-site, and Mom works remotely from home. We are looking for someone who can seamlessly integrate into our environment while providing our daughter with the dedicated engagement she needs to thrive during her recovery.

The Role & Responsibilities: The primary focus of this position is to provide light academic support as her symptoms allow.

• Childcare & Recovery Support: Facilitate gentle activities that she can tolerate (arts and crafts, drawing, puzzles, and cooking or baking).
• Educational Guidance: Help her stay on track with school assignments, including math, reading, and writing, as her headache levels permit.
• Symptom Management: Monitor her energy levels and pivot activities if she experiences discomfort. Light exercise is fine.
• Household Support: When our daughter is at school or otherwise engaged, a proactive approach to housekeeping and organization (tidying toys, making beds, folding laundry, etc.).

Our Ideal Candidate: We are seeking an experienced caregiver or Early Childhood Educator (ECE)/homeschooling experience, who is passionate about child development and possesses the following:

• Personal Attributes: Honest, kind, patient, and a proactive communicator.
• Skills: Ability to design and organize creative learning games and development activities.
• Practicality: Punctual, well-organized, and capable of maintaining a tidy household.
• Health & Safety: Knowledgeable about nutrition and food preparation. Must be First Aid & CPR certified.
• Requirements: Valid Driver’s License or means of transportation.
• Language Asset: As our daughter attends a French school, French as a second language is considered a major asset. Our daughter also understands Spanish, and we encourage her continued learning of Spanish.

Position Details:

• Hours: Flexible and to be discussed based on candidate availability (targeting a 3-hour window per day).
