Job summary

Spaceium in Ottawa is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to set up CNC mills and lathes, weld and fabricate, and support assembly of flight and test hardware in a fast‑moving shop.

You will read engineering drawings, program toolpaths, perform precision measurements with calipers and micrometers, and collaborate with mechanical engineers to improve manufacturability while maintaining safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade certificate or college diploma in machining, welding, manufacturing, or related field is an asset.
• Hands-on experience with CNC machining and/or welding and fabrication.
• Experience with soldering and/or wire harness and cable assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machining equipment (mills and/or lathes) to produce precision parts.
• Program or edit CNC toolpaths (G-code / CAM) and select tooling, speeds, and feeds.
• Weld and fabricate — TIG/MIG welding, cutting, bending, and sheet‑metal/structural fabrication.
• Build wire harnesses and cable assemblies — crimping, connectorization, potting, and labeling.
• Perform precision soldering to space workmanship standards.
• Read and work from engineering drawings, GD&T, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
• Operate manual machine tools and perform in‑process and final inspection.
• Support mechanical assembly, integration, and test hardware builds.
