Job description

Spa Manager – The Clayfield

Location: Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON

Opening: Summer 2026

The Clayfield is a new 102-room luxury boutique hotel opening in Niagara-on-the-Lake and part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Operated by Urgo Hotels & Resorts Canada, the hotel will deliver a refined, highly personalized guest experience grounded in calm luxury, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of place.

The Spa at The Clayfield is a thoughtfully designed, intimate space offering a refined, restorative experience that reflects the hotel’s sense of place, craftsmanship, and quiet luxury. It is not simply an amenity, but a core expression of the guest experience—where every detail, from treatment to environment, is considered and intentional.

The Spa Manager plays a central role in bringing this vision to life. Leading the spa through final pre‑opening and into full operation, this role is responsible for shaping the experience, building the team, and establishing the standards that will define the spa from day one. Reporting to the General Manager, the position combines hands‑on operational leadership with a strong sense of service, aesthetic awareness, and disciplined execution.

What You’ll Do
  • Support pre‑opening activities including hiring, training, SOP development, treatment protocols, systems setup, and operational readiness.
  • Recruit, train, and lead spa team members including therapists and attendants, with a strong focus on service excellence, professionalism, and guest care.
  • Develop staffing models and schedules that align availability with demand and support optimal treatment room utilization.
  • Set, uphold, and model service standards, ensuring a calm, intuitive, and consistently high‑quality spa experience.
  • Lead spa operations to deliver a seamless guest journey from arrival through treatment and departure.
  • Ensure treatment rooms and spa areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness, ambience, and readiness at all times.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence, supporting the team and engaging directly with guests.
  • Actively monitor guest feedback and treatment quality, responding to issues with professionalism and care.
  • Drive revenue through effective scheduling, treatment mix, and retail performance.
  • Oversee retail, inventory, and professional product usage to ensure both presentation and control.
  • Participate in budgeting and maintain control of labour and operating expenses while upholding service standards.
  • Partner closely with Rooms, Engineering, Food & Beverage, and other departments to support a seamless overall guest experience.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, health and safety requirements, and local regulations.
What You’ll Bring
  • 3–5+ years of progressive spa or wellness leadership experience.
  • Experience in a hotel, resort, or boutique environment preferred.
  • A hands‑on leadership style with a strong service mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear understanding of how operational detail and team behaviour shape guest experience.
  • Comfort working in a pre‑opening environment where structure is still being built.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends and holidays.
Why Join Us
  • Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well‑being and long‑term growth.
  • An opportunity to shape the spa operation of a brand‑new luxury hotel.
  • Work within a collaborative environment supported by ownership, Urgo Hotels & Resorts Canada and Hyatt.
  • Access to Hyatt colleague travel benefits.
  • A workplace culture rooted in respect, craftsmanship, and pride of place in beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake.
