Job Description
WHAT'S THE JOB?

The Sous Chef is responsible for preparing daily production and assembling meals in a family-style format for service. The individual will support the Chef Manager with daily food production, service, ordering, inventory management, and staff training.

This is a short-term contract from June to August, requiring the individual to stay at the lodge for the full duration. All travel, accommodations, meals, snacks, and beverages are provided.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the Chef Manager with daily food production, service, ordering, inventory management, and staff training
  • Preparing soups, sandwiches, pastas, eggs (poached and fried), proteins, baking, filleting, and cooking fish
  • Adhering to all food safety standards, ensuring proper handling, storage, and sanitation of ingredients and equipment
  • Monitoring and recording temperatures for food items, logging all necessary information to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations
Physical Demands:
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Climb ladders and stairs
  • Stand, walk, squat, kneel, or sit for extended periods
  • Perform repetitive hand work with full use of both hands
  • Work with arms above shoulder height
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the food service industry
  • Valid Food Safety certification required
  • Strong leadership abilities, excellent knife skills, and experience cooking from scratch in large volumes
  • Ability and desire to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe software
  • Capacity to stand for long periods, lift, carry, and move heavy items such as pots, pans, and ingredients
  • Experience with inventory management and weekly food ordering
  • Passion for the outdoors and commitment to the full work term at the lodge
  • Ability to successfully complete a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) level 3

Work Schedule and Remuneration:

This is a full-time summer contract from June 20 to August 22. The role is based at the lodge, with all expenses covered. Wages start at $21.00 per hour. The role may require working nights, weekends, and holidays.
