Job Description
WHAT'S THE JOB?

The Sous Chef is responsible for preparing daily production and assembling meals in a family-style format for service. The role supports the Chef Manager with food production, service, ordering, inventory management, and staff training.

This is a short-term contract from June to August, requiring residence at the lodge for the full duration. All travel, accommodations, meals, snacks, and beverages are provided.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the Chef Manager with food production, service, ordering, inventory, and staff training
  • Preparing soups, sandwiches, pastas, eggs (poached and fried), proteins, baking, filleting, and cooking fish
  • Adhering to all food safety standards, ensuring proper handling, storage, and sanitation
  • Monitoring and recording temperatures, maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations
Physical Demands:
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs
  • Climbing ladders and stairs
  • Standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, or sitting for extended periods
  • Performing repetitive hand work
  • Working with arms above shoulder height
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Minimum 3 years experience in food service
  • Valid Food Safety certification
  • Strong leadership, knife skills, and ability to cook from scratch in large volumes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
  • Capacity to stand for long periods and lift heavy items
  • Experience with inventory management and food ordering
  • Passion for outdoors and commitment to the full work term at the lodge
  • Ability to pass a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) level 3

Work Schedule and Remuneration:

This is a full-time summer contract from June 20 to August 22. The role requires residence at the lodge, with all expenses covered. Work hours may include nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Wages start at $21.00/hour.
