Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?

Based at a world-class Horizon North camp facility, the position typically involves a 20-day on, 10-day off shift, with 11-12-hour workdays. Transportation to the site is provided from a designated pickup point.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare, present, and design high-quality rotational menus
  • Supervise kitchen staff’s productivity and compliance with Horizon North policies, including health, safety, and quality standards
  • Lead training, development, and mentoring of employees
  • Ensure food safety using FOODSAFE and HACCP protocols, following Horizon North safety guidelines
  • Manage resources effectively and efficiently
  • Serve clients and staff professionally and personable
  • Consider dietary restrictions, allergies, vegan, and vegetarian options in meal planning
  • Conduct bi-weekly inventory checks
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate required
  • SafeCheck advanced food safety or HACCP certification
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in hospitality/food service industry
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Chef in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or remote lodges, with knowledge of international and domestic cuisines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, GFS, Outlook
  • Experience with menu costing, recipe implementation, and wage control
  • Strong background in all kitchen areas: Hot, Cold, Pastry/Bakery, Butchery, and Banquets
  • Effective leadership, positive personality, and good listening skills
