Job description

The role

Are you a strong Senior CDP or currently a Sous Chef looking to progress?

Our Sous Chef is responsible for producing all menu items in an efficient and consistent manner. This role reports directly to the Head Chef and is part of a team based at our attractive hotel in Manchester.

Sous Chef duties include:

  1. Assisting the Head Chef with responsibility for the kitchen's daily operations
  2. In the Head Chef's absence, you will be responsible for:
  3. Ordering stock and dealing with suppliers
  4. Monitoring and controlling stock levels
  5. Unloading and storing deliveries
  6. Implementing control measures and training staff on COSHH and Manual Handling
  7. Ensuring cleaning schedules are followed and maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen
  8. Liaising with the sales team regarding upcoming bookings
  9. Cooking food items using various methods such as grilling, frying, and sautéing according to recipes and standards
  10. Facilitating special requests from guests
  11. Managing wastage through proper product measurement
  12. Adhering to all kitchen SOPs at all times
  13. Setting up and stocking food items and supplies

What you’ll bring to the team

An ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. Demonstrable cooking experience, including experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie. Familiarity with industry best practices and Basic Food Safety are essential.
